    November 29 - Dec. 5:

    In the following first number is sale price. Second number is effective value based on $0.14/AM). If there is a multiple offer, ie, B3G15 & B6G45 a third number corresponds to the value of the extra offer.

    With effective valuing you can compare the relative prices of a product after accounting for the AirMiles against the same product in another store. For example,

    If Coca-Cola is $2.00 with 10 Airmiles it has an effective value of $0.60 [$2 - (10 x $0.14)]. If another store is selling the same product for $1 you know the effect of the AirMiles beats that price.

    Print off a copy of the following to take comparison shopping.

    SS = Safeway Select
    Saf = Safeway
    Sig =Signature
    Sch = Schneider's
    GMS = Gourmet Meat Shop
    OO = O Organics
    ER = Eating Right
    ML = Maple Leaf
    BC = Betty Crocker
    NPG = No Price Given

    P. 8

    Nada

    Let me know if I've missed anything.

    Also, if you do use your AMs for flights instead of products in all likelihood you can set the effective prices lower. However, it is always a good thing to cross reference with an Airlines website prices to make sure. Don't forget you pay the taxes extra.

    Finally, to all of you who have thanked me for this thread, thank you back as well.

    I'm puzzled.
    B5G60 = $8.40

    Raisin Bran/Vector/Vector Bars/Muslix/Rice Crispies/Corn Flakes/Just Right 3.50/0.82

    So 5*3.50=$17.50 - 8.40= 9.10/5= 1.82

    With coupons B2G2 - it's 0.82

    Got it now OperaBob. Thanks

    I have been waiting for this sale for a long time.

    Is it per visit, per week, per product special?

    How does b100g100 fit in. Can I get 500 plus 100 bonus?

    small,

    Thanks,

    It still works out to $0.57 on Tuesday though:

    5 x $3.50 = $17.50

    Less $5 in coupons = $12.50

    Less 10% = $11.25

    60 AMs = $8.40 approx.

    $11.25 - $8.40 = $2.85 effectively for 5

    $2.85/5 = $0.57 each effectively.

    I'm still a bit confused whether it's per shop or per product. As I understand it it's 500 max per product per day per visit.

    That means you can't get 450 + 450 = 900 on one product with 2 visits Tuesday but you should get 450 on Tuesday and another 450 Wednesday, etc.

    Check at customer service though. You could always do a shop above 500 on multiple products. If it only shows 500 on your receipt you'll know and you can ask for a partial refund.

    Bonus coupons like 5Xs or B$100G100 still count above the 500.

    Thanks OperaBob - and yes Tuesday - forgot to factor that in. Woohoo - now just have to see exactly what cereals are on sale so I can plan my donations. I have been saving up for months -- working on 70 Christmas hampers where we try to do Xmas meal and food for a month for the family so a few boxes of cereal will be nice addition.

    Was just in Safeway and see the email.direct B2G80 on Charmin 32/16 roll is $11.99 each.

    The flyer Purex B2G80 30/15 roll is $6.99.

    Assuming equal roll sizes which is the better deal?

    We already know the Purex is effectively $3.49/package.

    The Charmin is $11.99 - $5.60 (40 x 0.14) = $6.39 each.

    The Charmin is slightly larger (32/16 rolls vs. 30/15) but if you pro-rate the Purex:

    $3.49 x 16/15 = $3.72 vs. the Charmin $6.39

    Purex is by far the better deal this week despite the extra AMs on the Charmin.
