Amazingly it's only about 1" x 3" x 1/2" and does about 2 hours of HD with the card I have in it.

Kodak video camera - I snagged one of those too and gifted to a friend who had a toddler and wanted to have some videos. Very light and easy to use.

Most like Wednesday's GB will be a Quinny stroller rig of some sort...they seem to be hinting that on their FB page...for those who need to know!!!

My only inside info is their FB page, so it's not as much of a lock as was the Macbook from last week, so don't flame me if I'm wrong!!

Tons of offers next week. How good are they?????

One that will be good is Windex, especially if you have any BOGO coupons.

    Windex is B2G15 & B3G50 @ $2.50 each

If you buy 6 with BOGOs your cost is $7.50 before tax and you'll pick up $10.50 in AMs.

You're being paid to shop on this one!

The Quinny alone sells for $375. With the 3 diaper bags and ear thermometer it makes a killer deal at 1200 AMs. I have a baby and have been drooling over the quinny for some time! Even if you don't have a baby it might be in someone's interest to get it and sell the stroller on Kijiji.

I was almost tempted to get the group buy today. I think it was an fantastic deal, but my "babies" are 2 and 3 now and I don't really need a stroller. Wish they had that one last year!

Today's group buy was a great deal. My kids are past the stroller stage tho. Still waiting for something really compelling to come up on the safeway auction. The group buys have been good value (after a slow start) but the regular auctions are downright bizarre. I'm still monitoring them at http:///WR5LY and have to say some of the bids are either crazy or fraudulent. Without any confirmation that the bidder actually HAS the airmiles they claim, there is nothing stopping people from submitting any bid they want, putting upward pressure on the bidding. Not a good or fair system.

Here are two examples of how ridiculous some of the bids got a couple of days ago. The first was for a JVC camcorder worth less than $100, so at 10c per airmile a reasonable bid would be no more than 1000 or so. People are bidding 3 and 4 times that amount, which is crazy enough, but during the day the bidding got as high as almost 60,000! That's like paying $6000 for a $100 camera. Check out this screen shot:

At some point Safeway must have gone in to verify the bidders actually had the airmiles in their accounts, because it went down again later, but how are people supposed to trust the system? Another one from two days ago: this Via Rail trip worth $3500 went upwards of 111,000 airmiles (yes, that's over $11,000):

Even without these goofy/fraudulent bids the auction items are routinely overbid. Can't help but shake your confidence in people. Do we let these people vote? drive? have kids?

    BEGINNING OF RANT

Unfortunately, they are all around us, and they vote (which explains our government at all levels), drive (self-explanatory), and they have kids who think they are smart because they can use spell check on their computers, but can't tell you what 9 x 7 is without their iphones. They also spit right in someone's face at an airport picket line, and are also the ones who are walking the picket line. Too much "intelligence" can be a dangerous thing. It is ironic that we've spent billions of dollars to improve our health care system, and billions more on our education system, and society is in worse health and less "street smart" than they were a century ago, but the "experts" are telling us the opposite of course, that is because they are experts.

At any rate there aint a damn thing we can do about any of the above, so let's continue watching our own pennies, dollars, and Air Miles right here, where overbidding is not allowed!!

    END OF RANT

emax again year 2 of the e auction is an improvement over year one (the system hasn't completely crashed, although it might be tough to get the group buys; you have raised some serious compliance issues with regards to the auction component, and I do not believe they have been properly addressed--so expect patchwork responses of removing un-verified bids, since there appears to be no risk to overbid--if the AM were checked and "frozen" in the bidders' account once the bid is submitted, there would be some safeguards--think the answer in this case is the delay in crediting/debiting AM accounts, so they won't be fixing it this year, alas...so do what I do, check out the GB's and laugh at the idiocy (stupidity is too mild a word two weeks in) shown in your spreadsheets!!

Great summary of the e-Auction bidding, emax.

I'm not terribly confident in the bidding system either. It seems like a person can submit a bogus bid with a more subtle and thus, more believable increase in the current top bid. This could easily drive up the final bid for a particular item.

Without any faith in the security and fairness of the system, I'll be avoiding the e-Auction.

I think the only day Safeway closes here is Christmas day! We do usually have reduced hours on other holidays though.
Any thoughts on what the GB might be tomorrow anyone?

It's all quiet on the Safeway Facebook page. Too quiet. No hints or anything. Makes me wonder if tomorrow will be something sweet, like an ipad maybe. Then again, it could be another crummy watch or sunglasses or ihome accessory. Actually, my official guess is 1200 airmiles for a $200 safeway gift card. Hey, if you're gonna guess you might as well go all the way!
