That's awesome! My Dad was able to quit after smoking for 40 years with Champix... he has now been smoke-free for over 2 years!
Take it one day at a time - you'll do awesome!

Good luck!!! Your body and mind will thank you
I smoked for eight years and have quit twice.. I currently don't smoke. Going from smoking a pack and a half a day to zero was really, REALLY hard but it's worth it. I feel so much better I used to chew on candies, particularly Tic Tacs when I had a craving.Last edited by Brynhilde; Thu, Jan 5th, 2012 at 03:29 PM.

Way to go!!
DH did the quitting thing six years ago - six years and two days ago to be exact - and he's still doing well. I'm sure you've got all the advice you need on quitting, but here's some more....
After a few days/weeks, you may begin to have coughing fits... an old boyfriend and DH both did this - they coughed up the nastiest black tarry stuff out of their lungs... THAT was enough for them to never want a cigarette again!
Try to switch up your routines that included smoking - if, for example, it was a coffee and cigarette at 10am, try for a piece of fruit and a cup of tea... DH found that switching coffee for tea at break time helped him as he was used to going out for a smoke with all the other guys at work. Staying in and brewing tea and peeling an orange filled the time and before he knew it breaktime was over.
Popcorn and hard candies, as well as carrot and celery sticks, are supposed to be awesome snacking foods when cravings hit, or just to fill the times in the day when you feel like smoking out of habit.
All the best to you - you can do it!
