When this issue was first presented in the news, online commenters debated where to go with their concerns. Many people have no confidence in the government, Elections Canada, the RCMP or the Governor General to give this issue fair treatment, so the next authority figure suggested was The Queen.
And we can see how difficult and confusing it has been to get this issue dealt with by the authorities through ordinary channels, and time is running out to report it due to the 30 day deadline. That's another reason why Canadians have taken to the streets in peaceful protest on this issue.( Valiant, the valley-ant )

WOW, is all I have to say. Of course the Harper Government says it was, "just one person" but it stinks of Republican style tactics.
OTTAWA—Prime Minister Stephen Harper says the Conservative party’s telemarketing supplier, RMG, fired an employee for overly aggressive fundraising on the party’s behalf.
Harper told the Commons he was aware of “one case” where Responsive Marketing Group Inc. had fired an employee “before the election” and he added, “We maintain our standards at all times.”
But the revelation comes as an awkward admission at a time when the Conservative government fends off allegations of misleading robocalls, claiming their election calls to voters were beyond reproach.
According to a recording obtained by La Presse newspaper, an RMG employee who identified himself as Don Duke used aggressive pitches to solicit donations for the Conservatives.
The date of a series of recorded calls is not clear, but Duke says he is calling from “supporter services on behalf of the Harper government in Ottawa.”
When Duke reaches a man who questions who Duke is, and how he has come to identify the man as a party supporter, Duke challenges in return: “How would I have your membership number?” he demands. “Am I going to hack into the computers and get your membership number and your donation schedule back to the year 2000. Where the hell would I get that? . . . I’m telling you where I got that, I got it from the Conservative Party records, right here.”
Duke guffaws and tells the man the party intends to “bury” Ignatieff at the ballot box.
When he reaches another man who says he is no longer a Conservative supporter, Duke responds: “We don’t want to talk to socialists or separatists. . . . We had you down as a good Conservative. And if you’re not Harry, no, we don’t want to speak to you then. Thank you, Harry.”
In another call to a woman, Duke says, “Your husband makes decisions on the money coming in? When do you think I could reach him?” There is a pause in the recording during which it’s unclear if it’s the same call or a later one the same night, Duke challenges her: “I heard him, your husband is there; he’s talking in the background.”

This guy is an aggressive and obnoxious telemarketer, not a CPC member. The last thing the Conservative Party wants to do is alienate its own supporters. I'm sure this guy would be just as much of a jerk if his company's telemarketing contract had been to sell time-shares in Florida.

Well Dave I've worked in Call Centres before so I know that there can be one idiot who doesn't follow the rules that doesn't represent the company and/or it's policies, but with the mounting evidence against the Conservatives this falls into place nicely. Unfortunately. On that note, Elections Canada has said that it seems the older population was targeted during the election in regards to the robo-calls. Article HERE.
Now while I personally think it was the Conservatives behind this fiasco, no matter who is found to be the ones that played dirty tricks, a new election MUST be called. Someone screwed with the system and screwed with voters lists and that's unconstitutional.
Regardless of who anyone voted for or whether you think these allegations hold any merit, I think we can ALL agree that they are serious allegations. And as such considering this is now a Criminal Investigation and the Conservatives are the ones under investigation, I believe that Parliament should be suspended until the investigation is over. I don't want people potentially passing bills or enacting laws that are accused of Illegal activity, especially to the tune of possibly rigging a federal election.Last edited by TaraF; Fri, Mar 9th, 2012 at 10:05 PM.

Guelph Tory worker cancels meeting with Elections Canada
If he has nothing to hide than he should attend the meeting. Further to that, it proves that Election Canada truly has no authority or power to enforce anything. If they can't require anyone to cooperate than they are essentially useless. A full PUBLIC Third Party Inquiry backed by the RCMP is needed. Let them tell the RCMP they don't want to talk to EC!

For those who don`t feel that Harper has a legitimate govt since he has
only 39% of the popular vote, here are some interesting stats (I started
off crunching the numbers, til I realized that they were on Wikipedia).
By the logic below, we`ve only had 2 legitimate govts since 1949, both
of them Conservative.
1949.....49.....Lib.....Louis St Laurent
1953.....48.....Lib.....Louis St Laurent
1957.....38.....PC.....John Diefenbaker
1958.....53.....PC.....John Diefenbaker
1962.....37.....PC.....John Diefenbaker
1963.....41.....Lib.....Lester B Pearson
1965.....40.....Lib.....Lester B Pearson
1968.....45.....Lib.....Pierre Trudeau
1972.....38.....Lib.....Pierre Trudeau
1974.....43.....Lib.....Pierre Trudeau
1979.....35.....PC.....Joe Clark
1980.....44.....Lib.....Pierre Trudeau
1984.....50.....PC.....Brian Mulroney
1988.....43.....PC.....Brian Mulroney
1993.....41.....Lib.....Jean Chretien
1997.....38.....Lib.....Jean Chretien
2000.....40.....Lib.....Jean Chretien
2004.....36.....Lib.....Paul Martin
2006.....36.....PC.....Stephen Harper
2008.....37.....PC.....Stephen Harper
2011.....39.....PC.....Stephen Harper

The reason for posting the stats is not for any other reason than to point out that at any given time almost 2/3 of the country hate the PM. I am not saying that he is the first one to win with under 50% it's not going to happen in this country. I am merely stating that more people did not vote for the so called majority government than did.
Such is the nature of our divided country and this will not change in the foreseable future.

I didn't really hear much about the OPs topic, with every government, they do bad and good I guess, it all depends on what's more important to the individual I guess. One thing I didn't mind was the gun registry, as it is a waste of money. Most people who don't own firearms, don't understand much how the registry worked; and it was a pretty insecure system as people were found often hacking it, stealing a wack load of personal information of who has the most registered guns and where, then stealing them all.
This does not save a life ->
This does ->
Criminals don't do things legally, so relying on a piece of paper that never goes through properly due to their poor system from 1 serial number being off. Law enforcement should assume every situtation is dangerous.
And, now thanks to Harper, this can get a 18 year old first time offender put away for 10 years..
