Of course it'll be very useful for (thin) people who have mobility problems, but what in the
world would happen if we all had use of these? If we think there's an obesity problem now...
just wait until everyone can get their hands on this!
Quite the concept, though.....Honda's amazing.....This thread is currently associated with: N/A

This has to be a joke on Honda's part, lol. If it isn't, I personally would never use them. Walking is not that hard

I assume if this were real it would be for those with mobility issues.
I'd have to say there's already something like this afoot. The amount of people I saw at Universal Studios with XL scooters was unreal. And then sucking back 64oz liquids of pure sugar.
And when I had my broken foot, people who were mobile, but bigger than me, would get upset when I used the scooters at the grocery stores. Umm, I had crutches and couldn't walk. Literally.

ASIMO stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility
- can also mean "legs too" in Japanese
The OP is about a model from a few years ago, this is the newest - the UNI-CUB - more refined? Starting in June, they will be doing demonstrations. If all goes well, it might be on the market by the end of the year.
Representing the evolution of the U3-X personal mobility device that Honda announced in 2009, UNI-CUB features Honda's proprietary balance control technology and the world's first omni-directional driving wheel system (Honda Omni Traction Drive System). These technologies allow the rider to control speed, move in any direction, turn and stop, all simply by shifting his or her weight. Since the rider can freely move forward, backward, side-to-side and diagonally, he or she can quickly and easily maneuver among other people.
