granger...we just finished potty training dd2 about 3 months ago. going in public is tricky for sure. for the first few times I put a pullup on dd2 and her underwear overtop. I think she felt like she was just in her underwear. and we would go to the bathroom constantly. this may sound wacky but I also put our dora potty in the back of my van. we live in a rural area and it takes about 20mins or so to get to walmart and other stores so if she has to go while in the car there isn't anywhere to go so i'd just pull over and let her use the potty in the back. might not be the best solution but it worked for us. good luck!

Started potty training 2.5 yo today. Any tips from those who have gone before once we started resuming our out and about lives in the next couple of days?

Our son treated pullups just like a diaper, so that was definitely not the way we went. We used underwear that had a little padding in front (don't know if those can still be found!), just so it could catch an accident if need be.
When we first started at 18 months, he wasn't quite ready, but we left it for a few months, and then he was totally ready and was very good - was all trained before he was two.

It's being consistent - and taking LOTS of trips back and forth.... You will soon find what motivates your child.
For ours, it was wanting to wear big boy underwear like his dad! Well, he got to wear cooler ones with graphics on them (wish Fruit of the Loom made them for men, too!)

Ah potty training I use to work in a junior room at a daycare. I think I have trainer over 1000 kids.

Thanks for all the advice, I have put it in my arsenal. Right now DD has 2 hits, 4 misses. She seems to be going right after we take her so maybe have to sit a lit longer, run water...etc. We use cloth diapers, but I think because of that she is doesn't mind being wet. Mum told me persistence is key, so persist I will.

So happy I don't say that very much. I am trying to find happiness every day now. Today it is at this moment when ds1 is off getting his license and ds2 is out with his friends. I love them both so much and want sooo much for them. It has been an impossible year..but I hope we can do better

Lunch was 1/4 dagwood sandwich from Sobey's (3.99 buy one get one free) - they are awesome, totally loaded with tons of meat, cheese, and some veg, on amazing French bread. Son took two of them for lunch, too.

Unfortunately we drove into the delay resulting from that horrible crash on hwy 17, and spent 4 hrs at the Tim's in Nipigon before we got the ok to resume our trip.....got into town @ 1am instead of 7pm...
