The stocking....same fabric, same flowered-sheer ribbon trim around the top, then I cut out 4 flowers I had left and placed them down the stocking. I added 3 buttons from the gown to the side seam where the hanging loop is...
I have no idea why it's side-ways, it's the right way 'round when I load it...weird. It's lumpy because it's stuffed with tissue paper..and lined with that stripey linen-satin fabric that's peeking up over the top of the stocking.....

Beautiful work Lynn, such a great idea to make the heirloom stocking as well!

Both of those items will be cherished @Lynn49 You gave such a special meaning to the memory of your nieces grandmother's wedding gown and I am sure they will enjoy both for many years!

@Lynn49 - I'm so glad she took, and sent you the pictures.
They're JUST BEAUTIFUL.
What a wonderful keepsake, and boy do you ever have some talent.

Thank you @thriftygranny, @walkonby, and @22hicks. I just love doing things like that. The stocking looks like it's uneven, but it's just the way the fabric is poked in, in places; it really is a smooth seam all the way along!
However, I'm now free to think about sewing myself a jacket (unlined, the fabric is quite heavy)..maybe for my trippy??!
Have a lovely day, Ladies!Last edited by Lynn49; Mon, Sep 19th, 2016 at 11:33 AM.

I'm getting so fed up with all the Jays' losses.
There's so much talent on that team, just can't believe they're all struggling @ the same time.
At this rate, we may not even have a wild card spot. Who would have guessed.
Come on Jays, lets go.

I agree, I think Donaldson and Bautista need to take a seat on the bench and let Carrea and Barney play, they have been mediocre players all year at bat and defensively. I have been nattering to my husband all season that they are playing flat with no enthusiasm, they had all their little hand jestures and fun routines last year and this year they look scared stupid at the plate. You would think that when a team with that kind of talent at the plate bats poorly all season except for a few weeks in August they might think of changing up the batting coaches...something obviously wrong with the mental approach at the plate. Pitching got them to first place but now the pitchers are tired, hard to win a game when no one gets on base and when someone does the next batter hits in to a double play.
Maybe this should go in the rants section!!!!!

DH and I were talking about the Jays disastrous games lately and I wondered, "Why??!'. He thinks they got away with a lot of home-runs earlier, but now the pitchers have a handle on how to pitch to them, so no more whacks out of the park.
Relying on HRs, there wasn't much attention paid to just batting the balls into the field and moving players forward around the bases! Which is why so many, many of them have been stranded.
He thinks there'll be a batting coach change in the near future.
It's like basketball teams that rely on the 3-pt shots of their hot-shots to win games. If they're not 'hot' on any given night, the whole plan falls apart.
I tend to think he's right.

Aw, thank you @Natalka , but I'm pretty sure anyone can make stuff like that given a few resources and time; I've crafted my whole life in one area or another because I was blessed with having time to 'play'.
Just before my BFF got ill, we were planning to do silk scarf paintings. Ours sure would have been quite different: she, being Japanese, could produce such detailed work and me, I'd probably just dribble paint colours onto the silk and let them mingle! Much like my watercolouring does now!
