Usually one on my head and the other is at my feet or if I lie on my side, he will climb under the duvet and curl up by my tummy

I have to take my funny pills in order to sleep. Drives DH cause I get silly. But he's had a couple of nights when he can't sleep and knows what I suffer thru without them.
Just call me Wolfie

I average 5hrs/night if I'm lucky. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed (which more than once means dawn - it's amazing how exciting wikipedia can be when you're sleep-deprived ), I toss and turn for at least one hour before I fall asleep. I've been this way since I was a kid. I blame my Mom who let me stay up til all hours watching thrillers in the middle of the night (while my Father worked night shift).
Critters know better than to get up and play in the middle of the night - "no cookies if you annoy the sleeping neighbours". & yes, even the cat knows that when I say "go to bed" I mean it.

I fall a sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. But if I'm sick, then I wont be able to sleep all night.

I never used to have trouble sleeping unless I had a lot of stuff on my mind... but as I get older I seem to lay awake more nights than ever. I use the same relaxation method that some other posters have mentioned... focusing on one area of my body and relaxing it. If that doesn't work I'll get up and pop a nyquil or something lol

Depends if Mr Penguin's around or not.
If he's around I lay still and focus on calming scenes, hot seas, tropical beaches etc...
If he's not around I tend to get up, grab a drink, go to the loo, read..until I'm sleepy enough to know it's time to get the brood up and ready for school..
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Welcome to the Penguinocracy..One Penguin, One vote..I am The Penguin..I have the One Vote

I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep - quite often - especially if I've had caffeine in the afternoon. I used to take an arrowroot and hot milk - but that doesn't work any more. A cup of chamomile tea tends to counteract the caffeine if I can talk myself into getting up and making it. I will also take a melatonin. If I STILL can't sleep, I cruise around Smart Canucks.

Reading something a little boring. .is always a good yawner.
But I'm an imsoniac, so I have lots of tricks. I usually "know" when I'm going to have a bad night. . .so I start with L-theanine and GABA (both natural and harmless) They help relax me. .After they start to work, I add 5mg of Melatonin and then get ready for bed. If I'm still too awake by time I hit the sack, I read a bit.
If all of the above doesn't work, I get out the bigger guns. . .Immovane.(prescription) It's non-addictive and I use it about 2 or 3 times a week

Any time you want. Of course, they might hate you. Do you think they could handle Lily dog wanting to play play play with them?
I'm even willing to crate train them (works really well when the other half of "go to jail" is "or Lily dog will kiss you"). And the best way to deal with a naughty kitty trying to scratch forbidden things is to threaten to put booties on them.
Yes, I am evil.

FP, I blame you (and this thread) for my horrible sleep last night I woke up at 3am, tossed and turned for an hour and a half. I felt like a steamroller - two minutes on my side, two minutes on my back, two minutes on my front, and repeat.

Sorry alicia!
Andi, they actually will go to their crates when told. Maybe I will just send the boys, the princess would likely rip Lily's nose off if she tried
