    1. What are you excited about doing this holiday season?

Heading to a few concerts, movies, dinner & friends.

    2. Is there anything you can't but wish you could do this season?

We've been going to Buffy's family in Niagara Falls. A couple of Tim's are open there on Christmas Day. It's a great laugh for me to have an Ice-Capp in Tim's on Christmas but we're not going this year.

    3. What seasonal fictional character would you most like to meet and why? (Doesn't have to be seasonal)

    Alistair Sim's Ebenezer Scrooge:

    4. What tip can you offer people for a successful holiday experience?

Buy light bulbs is parallel not series so you can always find the burned out ones.

    5. Favourite holiday food/recipe?

My mother started cooking for Christmas in August. For dinner there was always four different kinds of pie unless she was mad at me. Then there was only minced meat pie. My favourite though is strawberry-rhubard!

    6. If you were/are traveling over this holiday season where would you most like to go?

Where ever people are happy and having a ball!

    7. Tell us about any family traditions.

Besides my sister's annual Christmas fight??? Well, one year I told everyone we were going to rate dinner like they do at the Olympics and I put score cards under the table at everyone's seat. My parents had a border for awhile who came to dinner. I told everyone what we were going to do and said I'd given everyone really high cards. The border, Joel, was quite the practical joker. When my father announced were were going to rate dinner everyone pulled out the cards. I'd given everybody 10.0 except Joel who got a 9.5. My mother's eyes shot right to Joel with the look of death. She had no sense of humour when it came to her dinners. It was very funny!!!

Joel later did the same to his family and I've since heard of others. So it's not a family tradition but does seem to be spreading.

    8. If you decorate over the season what is you favourite decoration?

Tinsel, except when you have to put it away.

    9. Are you an early or late holiday shopper?

As a Scotsman I've been known to shop for next Christmas on boxing day!

10 Does snow make you happy over the holiday season?

    Yes, definitely!

    1. What are you excited about doing this holiday season?

My husband is off work from Christmas to after New Year's, so I get more of him relaxed and happy!

    2. Is there anything you can't but wish you could do this season?

Turn back time to Christmas Eve at my parents' home.

    3. What seasonal fictional character would you most like to meet and why? (Doesn't have to be seasonal)

    St. Nicholas of Myra

    4. What tip can you offer people for a successful holiday experience?

Get along with your family members, even if you have to suck it up. You never know when it's their last one with you.

    5. Favourite holiday food/recipe?

Christmas Eve Holy Supper - traditional Ukrainian foods.

    6. If you were/are traveling over this holiday season where would you most like to go?

    Staying put.

    7. Tell us about any family traditions.

We celebrate Christmas Eve, have a special Ukrainian meatless meal - we sing our prayer before and after, then carol together as a family. Then we open gifts.

    8. If you decorate over the season what is you favourite decoration?

We always have an amazing tree - we hang it from the ceiling. Will post pic in the tree thread when it's done later this week. Lots of ornaments are old and/or handmade, lots of memories.

    9. Are you an early or late holiday shopper?

    Somewhere in the middle.

10 Does snow make you happy over the holiday season?

You bet! We already have tons, and hopefully will get more!

Thanks operabob for the holiday themed questions!

    1. What are you excited about doing this holiday season? Ringing in the new year with my kids!

    2. Is there anything you can't but wish you could do this season? Trip to Hawaii would be nice.

    3. What seasonal fictional character would you most like to meet and why? (Doesn't have to be seasonal). Olive. You know...the "other" reindeer.

    4. What tip can you offer people for a successful holiday experience? Alcohol...and LOTS of it. You'll need it to survive the weird relatives and over-hyped children.

    5. Favourite holiday food/recipe? Gingerbread

    6. If you were/are traveling over this holiday season where would you most like to go? See question 2.

    7. Tell us about any family traditions. When I was little we went to midnight mass and ate raisin bread in the wee hours of the morning after church, then collapsed into bed. We always got a harmonica in our stocking which we used to torture our parents with at 6am.

    8. If you decorate over the season what is you favourite decoration? A Christmas ornament my sister made me one year when we drew names and we decided we would make rather than purchase the gifts. It's a simply cloth cow with a bell. Love him!

    9. Are you an early or late holiday shopper? Late. But not nearly as late as my husband. He would take late to a whole new level if I let him.

10 Does snow make you happy over the holiday season? Yup. Just so long as it goes away on Jan 2nd.

    1. What are you excited about doing this holiday season?
I'm excited about seeing family and friends.

    2. Is there anything you can't but wish you could do this season?
I wish that I could just stay home and have everyone come visit me.

    3. What seasonal fictional character would you most like to meet and why? (Doesn't have to be seasonal)
    Cindy Lou from the Grinch

    4. What tip can you offer people for a successful holiday experience?
Try to stay away from gossip, eat healthy, and make sure to exercise.

    5. Favourite holiday food/recipe?
    egg nog

    6. If you were/are traveling over this holiday season where would you most like to go?
I am travelling this Christmas. I'm going to visit family around the Niagara Region. If I could go anywhere else instead, I'd probably pick Florence

    7. Tell us about any family traditions.
I don't really have any. Every year we visit family and drive all around. I'm super excited about next year when we'll stay home and finally enjoy a Christmas for the first time in 12 years.

    8. If you decorate over the season what is you favourite decoration?
My favourite decoration is the nativity scene.

    9. Are you an early or late holiday shopper?
I prefer to be an early shopper, however, it's sometimes very difficult to do. When you buy things too early on in the year the recipient they can't return it if it doesn't fit.

10 Does snow make you happy over the holiday season?
Snow makes me miserable over the holidays. I know that everyone says that it feels Christmas-y, but it makes it difficult to drive and fly around to visit family/friends. It makes the travelling unsafe and causes accidents. It may make me sound negative and critical, but I don't think people getting into car accidents and getting hurt is very Christmas-y.

    1. What are you excited about doing this holiday season?
Wrapping presents! it's my relaxer... seriously.. I turn the tv to the galaxie holiday favorites channel, crank the volume and get cracking..it's fun

    2. Is there anything you can't but wish you could do this season?
I wish I could go up to algonquin park and takes pictures of the snowfall.

    3. What seasonal fictional character would you most like to meet and why? (Doesn't have to be seasonal)
Bumble from rudolph... because he's simply awesome and loveable

    4. What tip can you offer people for a successful holiday experience?
Don't eat or drink yourself to oblivion

    5. Favourite holiday food/recipe?
    my sister's irish shortbread..damn good

    6. If you were/are traveling over this holiday season where would you most like to go?
I want to goto NYC for the holidays..only if there was snowfall... central park in the winter.. c'mon! =)

    7. Tell us about any family traditions.
Running tradition of at least 1 pair of family members trying to out do each other with pain in the ass gifts.. meaning... they will goto great lengths to put a simple or silly present/item in something and make it very very difficult for the reciever to get into... For example my cousin stuck $50 worth of quarters on rolls of duct tape and put another strip of tape across it all to seal each coin than cut them out and duct taped the wrapped coins to cardboard.... Another year my other cousin put a silly beanie baby in an empty paintcan, buried it in my aunts backyard in june than 3 weeks before the party he went back dug it all out and pour buckets of water all over the paintcan [still in the ground] let it freeze and covered it over with soil than snow and let the reciever [his niece] try to get it out.. lol it took hours and hours..

    8. If you decorate over the season what is you favourite decoration?
I didn't decorate this year but when I was young my parents used to have this santa and his sleigh with reindeer attached..it was small and would sit on the coffee table... hm... I miss it =(

    9. Are you an early or late holiday shopper?
I try to shop with my dad early in the year.. problem is he'd buy things and not tell me.. than in november I was moving stuff in the bathroom cupboard and found and stash of toys for my niece and nephews... I told him and he forgot they were birthday presents from months and months ago lol.. so now they are christmas presents. I've been grabbing things thru the year and stashing them in boxes labelled with everyones names... I pulled it all down sunday when we got back from our buffalo shopping weekend and they were shocked that i stashed so much.. for everyone.. lol even my sisterinlaw angela who is by their standards 'too hard to shop for'..seriously.. she likes everything I do! jewellery making, knitting, crocheting, crafting etc etc.. bleh... damn old people.

10 Does snow make you happy over the holiday season? yes but there's no snow right now.. just rain and rain.. makes me all depressed... so I close the curtains, crank the music and fiddle witht he woodstove..
