Thanks walkonby. When I cut out sugar completely (cake, cookies etc) I felt better and the pounds came off. I need to remember how good I felt when I lost that weight and felt healthier. I believe sugar also made me tired and moody. I'll get back into the swing of things.

    Hi again folks,
I can`t believe I forgot to post my updates in here.
It was a busy few weeks getting ds ready and off to University.
He`s now settled in and I am back into a regular routine.

Aug 29th - Stayed the same ( think I was drinking too much diet pop, have now cut that way back)
    Sept 5th Lost 2.4 lbs
    Sept 12th Lost 2.2 lbs

Really pleased with these losses but have not been getting my walking in or drinking my water.
    That starts again today.
Hope you all have a great week. Off to stack the last of the 8 cords of wood

dreamcatcher you did better than I did. No loss at all. I am o.k. with staying hovering this week because I was not 100% drinking enough water, nor measuring my portions. I refuse to let this weight thing control me, I will see how many extra calories I can burn gritting my teeth while attempting to do squats this week. Good luck everyone!

The the bad news is: up 14 lbs
The good news is, that after 3 full months of bed-rest, then and now walking, sort-of, around the house, and having my hubby's cooking AND baking, I have ONLY gained 14lbs.

In a perfect world I'd have at least maintained, but my hubby, bless his dear heart, cooks great meals, always has ice-cream handy for those times I'm pouting, and OMG, let's not get into his yummy oatmeal raisin cookies.

So how to correct this: I went back to Herbal One today,(formally known as Herbal Magic) and come Monday I will be on track once again and get rid if those lbs. Hubby, although in pretty good shape, will be on it, too, and he'll be eating healthier. Why Monday? I need a grocery trip, and I simply must finish these cookies!

Curt...congratulations on whatever you're doing! But...HA-HA!....you will have more competition next week!

Everyone...keep at it, you will succeed. Think of that slinky outfit you want to wear at Christmas!

Up almost 2lbs. But I totally knew it was going to happen. DH flew out today so I'm back on track.

Is anyone else here doing the Atkins diet?
Just curious and looking for ideas on snacks. I made their peanutbutter cookies and they are nasty.
I won't be making them again. That's definitely one way to prevent a person from eating cookies, lol.

I tried it when it came out a lot if years ago...yes, you'll lose, I did, but unless you're ready to dedicate your life to it, it'll all come back, Hun...with a vengeance.
It's an unnatural lifestyle. But if it's something you need to try, then of course good luck, Hun....we all did it, lol...!

DAY 1, back on Herbal One (formerly known as Herbal Magic), and if I do as well as our DD on it, I'll be pretty darn happy.
Breakfast was 1/2C of Special K, with 1/2C of unsweetened applesauce, sweetener, and cinnamon, nuked.
It's like eating apple pie for breakfast!

    Have a successful day, everyone!!!

I have a couple of friends who are doing Dr. Poon's diet. It is along the same lines as Atkin's. They have both lost 12 pounds & I believe 30 pounds now respectively. Both have been on several diets before & well you all know the drill.

Low carbs or is that no carbs? No root vegetables, no fruits, etc.....

I don't think it is good to go with those rapid weight loss strategies. They are most always temporary & so unrealistic to maintain for any length of time.

I have gained weight since I have been ill & in treatment. It's hard for me to exercise the way I used to & I find that most foods just don't taste the same to me. (a known side effect of some of the drugs I am taking). I would like to get about 5 to 10 pounds off. So, my new mission is going to be as follows:

    - eat a sensible breakfast that is going to give me better energy. (I guess that means yogurt, a soft boiled dippy egg & some OJ) Eat a decent lunch & go lighter on supper.) It's those snacks that are ever so naughty!) I have been baking quite a bit over the last few weeks & I am going to be taking a break. Ginger cookies are really good & not too high in carbs & calories.

Good Luck to everyone & be happy with who you are first & foremost.

I agree with you Loocie, the diets where you eliminate so many good and necessary foods that offer nutritional value is not wise. The weight comes off fast but returns with a vengeance!! Good luck on cutting down on snacks, seems to be a common weakness in here.

So I have a really bad sprain and I am forced to sit here with it elevated. It has been since Saturday . My foot is black and swollen and it sucks. Just when my hayfever had subsided and was looking forward to getting outdoors for all the fall activities. Hopefully it won't be much longer but for now I am walking with a cane

As for weigh ins , I have not for 2 weeks but will do so Friday.

I'm sure you're already doing it but putting ice on it will help to decrease the swelling =) doing some ankle pumps will help to get some fluid out of the area too. Hope it's better really soon.
