That happened to my guy, he had surgery and caught a "flu" from homecare and was hospitalized well in the hospital he caught that really bad flu that was going around before Christmas. Due to his weakened immune system and recovering from surgery he is just finally now starting to feel better. It was really rough, was not allowed visitors and was moved into a room all alone only people allowed in were doctors and nurses. This year's flu season is really horrible, seems like someone is always sick.

How awful because of course it's mostly elderly people trying to recover from surgery or other illnesses.

My friend works at a hospital here in Montreal that is pretty much on lockdown because there is an outbreak of an antibiotic resistant bacteria EEK!

    Down 1.5
    1.5 of 8 lbs goal

Now to lose two weeks in a row rather than put it back on and yo yo. I am going to kick this plateau with the mini Feb. challenge.

OK peeps, it's time to do the weigh in. I have been waiting and I just know that you are all going to do well, even with the Super bowl Sunday in there. You see, life is full of challenges, but in life, we must overcome them. Climb over that crap and move on, since most of you have grabbed on to the No More Excuses, you will see great strides, I promise. It's all up to you!

So, after my bad week/weekend, I was up 3lbs over my starting weight.
i dealt with my two road blocks, and am happy to report that after 4 days back I have lost the extra I put on and am down 1.5!

life may get in the way sometimes, but with support and the right attitude to tackle our demons head on, we can accomplish anything!

It is better to have tried our best and come short of our goals than to not have tried at all.

    good luck!
Love like crazy everyday and smile.

BUT! That includes the 3lbs I gained over SuperBowl weekend, which was probably water retention due to the salty foods again, and the wine. So all in, it should be a loss of 3.1 lbs this week.
This is the lowest weight I've been in probably 10-15 years!!!!!
    OMG, it feels so good!
Going shopping with DD this morning; I may find a new pair of jeans along the way!

Good work, everyone. Believe me, I know about road-blocks..it took me a year to lose the 50lbs...on, off, back on, off.....etc...but the thing is: whenever I went 'off', I slapped myself upside the head and went back on it.

That's the big secret: never giving up, and just plowing ahead.

Just keep going, and going, and...well, you know...going!

up some.....about 3 lbs. I think, wait ....what was my starting weight?

OK I kid around here...but really I KNOW now why this has been counter productive for me. I figured it out while noshing a GF brownie the other night. Since I am not at work, no hauling around those 50 lb parcels, or anything else physical .....it is my own doing!! Just rising, strolling to and from the kitchen, driving the offspring to classes, shopping, cooking, typing. It is no wonder the weight is not coming off! I do some housework, the pets cleaning stuff, but anything making me sweat? NO!!

So I cannot have my GF cake ( or brownies) and eat it too it seems.
be back next Friday with a weight loss, and I MEAN IT!!

    http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...nt-weight-loss

I found this to be a very interesting article.

basically it says that carbs make us happy because they make serotonin in our bodies, and serotonin makes us happy.

this explains why people like me, an emotional eater, can sit and eat a pece of cheesecake and be happy right after.

All the more reason to snack on fruits and veggies between meals, and start dinner off with a salad, and then take a break to let the salad do its work.
