saves the staff having to deal with this story....
Less than a day into the Manti Te’o revelations, we’ve heard more about a fake dead girlfriend of a Notre Dame football player than a real dead girl. Lizzy Seeberg committed suicide, not long after being intimidated by Notre Dame football players for reporting a sexual assault by one of their teammates. A second woman who was taken to the hospital for a rape exam declined to formally accuse another Notre Dame football player after getting a series of bullying texts from players.
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Az Cardinals full back: "no, she's real"
This after Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick held a press conference – a tearful press conference – Wednesday claiming Te’o had been the victim of an elaborate hoax created by a host of perpetrators who conspired to make Te’o fall in love and subsequently lose Kekua in grandiose fashion.
But Mauia said Notre Dame might have been misinformed. He said he met Kekua in person when he went to do charity work in American Samoa with Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Troy Polamalu and several other Polynesians back in June 2011.
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

9 baffling questions
College football star Manti Te'o says he was the victim of a cruel hoax, an elaborate scheme in which he fell for an imaginary girlfriend named Lennay Kekua and mourned her when she died of leukemia.
But he still has a lot of explaining to do.
The narrative crafted before and after the expose is full of conflicting information and holes bigger than those in Notre Dame's defensive line during its loss to Alabama.
If Te'o wants the public to believe that he was nothing more than a dupe, here are some of the questions and inconsistencies he'll need to clear up.
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

New word for me from the news this morning - catfishing. Guess there's a TV show on it as well, following a movie about it.

Sooo someone allegedly create a series of fake accts (Twitter, FB etc) for a (fake) non~existent person ?!?
And then used those accts to potentially defraud others? (heard on the news there were "other victims")
Is it entirely possible that they had forged an online friendship and that he was simply smitten with her persona
to the point where like back in HighSchool he fell hook, line & sinker and thought she "may be the one?"
Without actually having met her in person? Just an intense online "relationship"?
Regardless of who's behind the hoax its sickening that someone would go that far to hurt another person.

He claimed he learned it was a hoax Dec 6, but still mentioned her in interviews after that.
I think this man is just delusional. There have been bigger hoaxes pushed by people.
