I never got my wm flyer this week, going to go and get a few more for the summer....dh bought me a turkey fryer at Christmas time....yummy.

WM has turkeys for .88c a pound!!! I'm going to pick up a couple tomorrow.

OK, tentative meal plan for the week:
Today- Tomato mac soup and garlic bread sticks (this is my first time EVER making anything with yeast so I'm praying it turns out... the dough is rising nicely so I'm hoping it will be fine!)

Nope, I'm pretty lucky. Step-Dad is a chef, so he likes to have us all over. Sometimes I just feel like making a big meal for us 3, so it would be nice to buy one while it's on sale for when the mood strikes lol

Spur of the moment decided to take 3 of the kids to see The Croods last night using some movie passes we had. My 3yr old had a bit of a hard time sitting through the entire thing. But....shake your head at me....I forgot I had bread rising-in the pans already!!!!!! I came home to an eewy gooey, overflowing mess. Alas, punched them down, pulled them out of the pans, rekneaded the dough, put it back in the pans and start again. I ended up with some super huge loaves of bread. Tasty, but good lord are they ever big! If you know me, this is not unpredictable...I forget things often!

Question # 2 for today: Do you brown you meat before putting it in your slow cooker?

I do, I like a brown crust to my meat and really do not enjoy the texture of the meat if it is not browned first.

I don't know about Ontario, but NF in NS has Frozen Utility Turkeys on for $1.17/lb. I bought 1 but may have to go back and get another one. I got all excited when I saw the early post of the NF's Ont flyer (was hoping ours would be the same) when I saw the eye of round roast on for $1.97/lb. I had planned on buying a bunch and making my own ground beef as that has not been on sale here for ages

Unfortunately, our flyer was not exactly the same as yours and we did not get the same sale on the beef.
Oh well, will have to wait a little longer, lol.

I got a huge EOR beef for this weekend.....almost want to go back and get another. It was $15.

I really liked it and so did the older 2 kids. But the 3yr old had a hard time sitting there for so long. I think it might have just been too late for her. But she was free, so no loss there.

I am hosting- just a few people and it will be ham. Fish for Good Friday and Ham for Sunday dinner. I bought the ham a few months ago when it was on super sale Fish on the other hand, is it just me or is wild fish harder to find @ a reasonable price?



Thanks everyone for the well wishes about puppy. It looks like it is the food. The change is hitting him a bit hard. We underestimated just how sensitive he would be. And we thought we were starting small. Poor thing. The switch will be good for him and us as well (we are going with a raw food diet because get this: the real meat/bone ground in our area is cheaper than the no veggie/no grain kibble in the store.)

Volunteering today, but we have a sick puppy. May have to stop by the vet. We have begun to introduce a different food to him but he may not be tolerating well. Vet visit to be sure as he had some shallow breathing this morning.
