I normally try to be upbeat and positive but I'm so over this year already.

In January we took in a foster dog, a newfie, lovely dog who came from a bad breeder, he attacked me, pined me against the wall and bite the heck out of my leg. Because of this I had to take him to be put to sleep (not my decision, but he had no bite inhibition, he could have killed a child). We were heart broken.

In the last 3 weeks the following has happened,

    • Mother In laws cancer was found to be terminal - we were expecting it, she's been fighting 12 years.
    • Leaving to visit said mother in law, our garage door falls off and needs to be replaced $1400
    • Baby sitting neighbours dog who decided to use our living room as it's grass patch over and over again
    • Mother In law has a stroke and is in the hospital. She has also had 2 seizures since she's been there.
    • We've driven 1600km in the last 9 days between here and the hospital ($160 in petrol)
    • Went to the dr's last week not feeling well and found out my gall bladder has to come out ASAP
    • Hard drive with all my photos / tax stuff / business stuff etc on has decided to stop working and can't be read.
    • DH didn't turn the laundry room taps on properly and water poured out and soaked through in to the basement (over the electrical panel)
    • Tonight the washing machine goes all crazy and won't run. It goes for a minute and then stops. It's only 18 months old. Thank goodness we have the extended warranty, it's already been fixed twice.

I have DH's uncle coming for 2 weeks from the UK to look for a house and then shortly after that I have my uncle coming for 3 weeks.

Can I please have a do-over on this year.

On the bright side, the water leaking into our basement means that the ground must be thawing and that warm weather is just around the corner . Silver lining!

Oh you poor girl. Why is it that crappy things always happen in an insane amount of numbers. Hope things improve soon for you.

It gets better. I promise....and don't worry about your gallbladder....the surgery is nothing compared to a gallbladder attack.

sorry about your MIL. She must be one heck of a woman to be fighting for as long as she has.

    *positive thoughts *
Love like crazy everyday and smile.

I think you should unplug your phone, go into your closet, and hide until at least November.

I hope things look up for you really soon.
That's a lot to have happened in so short a time. Any one of them is enough to deal with. I hope you have someone to lean on.
    Sending good thoughts your way.

I'm so sorry to hear about everything that's happened. I'm sure things will get better.

I'm not sure if they told you, but once you have your gall bladder removed, you'll have to take daily medicine. When my BIL had his removed, the drs said it was fine cause you don't need it. Turns out you do cause every day he has to take this medicine called cholestomine (or something like that). It's a powder that you have to mix with a liquid and drink. It helps with the digestion of food. It's,a pain to remember to take everyday.

Thank for the kind words everyone. I feel daft moaning about such trivial things when there are real problems in the word. But it does feel good to get it off my chest and move on.

I hope things start looking up for you.

As far as the hard drive goes, everything can probably be saved. If it's a desktop and you know someone who is computer savvy, you can probably just set it up as a second hard drive and get your files off it. Otherwise, you can pay someone to do it (Best Buy etc.). But it's actually very simple to do, just takes a little bit of time.

If it's a laptop, stuff can still be recovered, but it's just a little bit trickier, and you'll probably have to take it into a store.

I agree. You are obviously a strong person to be going through all that you are and still be coherent! Your strength will get you through all of these troubles. Big hugs to you.
