Tragedy At One of Vale's Mines In Sudbury

Those of you who know about Sudbury know that Vale (Formaly INCO) is a major employer in this city.

Last night tragedy struck as two miners were killed underground. One of them I knew and went to Highschool/College together (we took the same course).

Please keep their families in your prayers.

Oh no...I am born and raised in Sudbury and have family there my father worked for Inco and I have friends who work there..so sad for all.

The names were released at around 4:30pm, however, I knew who one of them were at around 8am. News travels fast, especially when you work in the mining industry.

News does travel fast -- Im from Sudbury too and knew who both of them were by finding out on Facebook, way before the names were released in the news.

It was just by seeing all friends/family who are still in Sudbury, talking about what had happened. It's crazy how fast news can travel through social media these days...

Hearts go out to the family and friends in the area.

No name has been released yet...so I don't know who it was.

I don't work at Coleman mine (I did in 08-09 though). They suspended operations at all mines across Sudbury.

Tragic beyond words.....this should not have happened...I don't know what safety precautions are in place there, so I'm interested to hear how such a horrible event could happen...so sad..he and his family are in my prayers....
