we have talked about it and she says she's afraid to fail and be teased... but i do tell her the only real failure is not trying mistakes are ok, they are learning experiences and how can you learn if you don't allow yourself to make mistakes i just watch her usual confidence fall completely and it makes me sad and frustrating that she won't even try
we are a reading household too.. every night they get home reading books that she reads to me and she takes a book to bed every night for 15-20 min before the lights go out (and if she wants to she can stay up later with the flashlight and her book... but come the end of the night she's usually too tired for that)
i know it's just going to take time and we're still getting back into routines but the battles are frustrating because i know she can do it if she just triesWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Try breaking the words up into small parts or a rhyme. Worked for me when I was a kid

i've tried that... i've tried sounding them out, breaking them down giving her the letter count so she can follow along, putting those words in a sentence.. it's not huge words yet... she had a meltdown over the word "afraid" and "between" and once she starts to spiral simple words become a battle.. this also goes along with writing... she's not a big fan of writing and i think her grade 1 teacher royally dropped the ball on writing skills so now she has to make up for that to a degree adding that extra touch of hard to it

DH went to a birthday party last night and wandered in in the AM drunk as a skunk. He woke up all the dogs, wanted something to eat and then wanted to cuddle. ARRRGGGG! Dude, while you are passed out and snoring like a trucker, I am cleaning the bomb that went off in the kitchen and spending the next hour or so trying to get the dogs to settle down. And NO I do NOT want to cuddle! You smell gross and although you think you are stroking my hair, you are actually clobbering my head! STAY AT YOUR BUDDY'S HOUSE!!!

Netflix. I was on ds2's account trying to pick a movie both he and ds1 would like. It suggested a Lego batman movie but when I selected it he didn't have permission to watch it. Apparently it wasn't rated but why bother bringing it up as an option at all if he wasn't going to be able to watch it... Now because they are excited about it I have to load it up on my account which will probably start flooding my suggestions with kids movies which defeats the whole point of having multiple profiles in the first place.

Spent 4 freaking hours on a cake for dd's birthday party tomorrow only to drop it on the f**king floor while I was trying to carry it downstairs! Had to do an emergency run to Shoppers bawling my eyes, pay through the nose for what I needed to make another cake and now it's 12:05 am and I'm starting from scratch.

*hugs*
Sold a friend a piece of IKEA furniture that was still in the box, part of it was opened from when I considered using it but changed my mind. They live maybe 40 minutes away but our schedules won't work for meeting up because today while I vaccumed I found the instructions to build it and a bag of screws and sh*t -__-
Thank you Canada post.

So I thought I would be a nice wifey and bake banana bread for DH as he has been up since 8am hauling bales. After I take it out of the oven I thought it looked funny. Double checking the recipe and realized I forgot to add the eggs! Duh! Facepalm moment!
