sparrow, the first time I saw the 'modern' cloth diaper prices, I was just floored!
I know some women who sew, so make their own, so that's a huge bonus.

I'm so glad we had our son when the old fashioned cloth diapers were still the norm - they were cheap (Sears always had them on sale), soft and cuddly, and very easy to deal with. It really wasn't a big deal to do the folding, which some people don't like.

It actually brought back memories from my childhood; my younger brother was born when I was 10, and mom would bring baskets of laundered diapers for me and my siblings to fold while we were watching tv.

My sister had twins and used cloth. I remember well folding all those diapers.

Things I'm stocking up on this week: TP on at SDM for .88 cents and Clear shampoo $3.62 less $3.00 coupons (hope I get trade on time- too bad didn't have coupons this weekend to pm at SS for tax free but oh well) Dove shampoo/cond $2.99 less $2 coupon and no tax at SS. Ground beef and boneless chic. Hope to use tons of save $4 on meat wub Taco kit and salsa (have FPC for taco kit) and pm FB flyer for $2.99 Salsa. We are keeping a few jars and donating the rest to the Foodbank since we don't use that much) Think that is it for my stock up items this week

Thanks for the hints! I've been busy and haven't had time to "study" the match-ups this week. I think I have 3 of those Clear coups. I'm stocking up for outreach to the women's shelter from our church.

Well today DD and I are going whale watching so hope we see some. Got the best price by using my 25% off coupon from the local entertainment book-still not a cheap excursion but given we have no accommodation costs on this vacation and cook most of our meals at home I figure we can splurge a bit-vacation was budgeted from occasional childcare earnings I keep in a vacation fund.

Oh, I LOVE whale watching! We went when we were in Cape Breton and then I went when we went to Hawaii this spring. We had one slide right under our boat! Just spectacular! My advice, if you have a digital camera is just keep clicking. If you wait until you see the spout, you may not catch it on film.

morning all, sorry I have been missing in action but work/life has been insane. We leave Sunday for our vacation so that has been great for the grocery budget as I am buying nothing and eating what we have. And of course the vacation was a budgeted item so all is good. We have our sons b-days both in the next 4 weeks and they will both receive their gifts before we leave as they are needed for the trip. will try to catch up on the thread now, you ladies are busy.

Shopper's drug mart has their Babylife brand on sale this week. Unit cost is 25 cents a diaper. I like them and a quarter per nappy is good for disposables.

DH said I could go to the no-tax sale at RCSS today while he watched LO. After LO's morning feed, I set out to pick up the diapers on sale for 31.97. There also happened to be a coupon beside the product to save $10 WUB2. I have no clue on what's reasonable to pay for diapers, and it was so difficult to get out to shop this weekend (like any other time since LO's birth!) that I thought I'd stock up.

Even though it was 8 AM, there were only 5 on the shelf, none being in the size I was looking for. I went to CS to get a raincheck, and they refused because they had more stock in the back that they hadn't bothered to bring out. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting (I was eager to get home and feed LO because there's only a short window...) they brought out the wrong brand. He went back to get the right one, but only brought out one when he did. I was looking for two, so the wait started all over again. All the while, I was imagining LO waiting for her food and getting none.

I ended up buying a box of 216 and 184 count diapers for $54. Thank goodness I stocked up. I was half an hour late getting home since I the scanner on the checkout I went to wasn't working and they were short staffed. LO nearly had a meltdown waiting for her lunch. I can't make my family wait through that ordeal again!

I am slowly coming to terms with the idea that I can't wait for deals or have the time I used to in chasing the best value anymore.

I know what you mean! Luckily I have a supply that I've borrowed from friends, but they aren't in newborn size. Currently, LO is sporting the beginnings of diaper rash, so we're on disposables 24-7 until it disappears.

I once visited a high end jewelery store and tried on a 7 carat ring. When I was told the price tag was $750,000, I wasn't nearly as shocked as I am the price of diapers. Of course, I was never seriously in the market for a 7 carat diamond, so I guess it didn't really matter then.

Another thing that struck me as funny today was seeing expiry dates on my dental floss and the rubbing alcohol in my cleaning kit.

the deal is not what matters now, its the babe. It does get better though as soon she will be able to come with you on your deal hunts and then she becomes your coupon finder. My boys never walk past a coupon without asking it we can use it. They understand what you get when you pay attention to your money and both have said they will coupon when they grow up.

Found a great use for those menstrual pads I don't use any more. They make great dusters. I also use them to pick up the hair in my bathroom.

Crapola. I had this nice post I thought I had left yesterday on my phone........not sure where it went lol. I have to compile my grocery lists-planning today. Haven't looked through the flyers yet, but I've got a few things put aside for school lunches. While we were in Buffalo, I got most of the school supplies, the rest I will get at Dollarama. We also have to go through their clothes and see what is needed. I've picked up a bit through consignment, used and bought new during sales so we are not in bad shape. I think its mainly shoes that are needed. socks, undies, that kind of thing. Last night I ordered pizza (eek) cooked up our wings from the freezer and threw together a veggie tray to use up stuff we have. It was $30.49 delivered for three large 3 topping pizzas which I thought was pretty good. We will eat the left overs today. Its going to be a leftovers couple of days for DH and the kids as I work 9-9 tomorrow and Tuesday. It was nice to have the overtime the other night but I am feeling it. My body is tired and I have mountains of laundry to get done today. ugh. Whats new with y'all? Thanks Nancy for the kind words about my blog its very exciting for me!

sort of a good frugal week ish or more.. sort of not.. haven't really bought anything we don't need.. just the usual staples.. and its amazing when you clean out a fridge what you find.. food that was hidden.. and still good. i take it the bottom is almost a 'chill' zone.
anyway.. only spent $10 between the two of us at garage sales yesterday.. he ended up buying for a $1? a $200 set of sony zappin head walkman.
i bought a $20-40 xmas tree for $2.. and im still researching but i think a partlylite candle vase for $1..
anyway hubby worked all day saturday.. received a nice tip.. gave it to me.. im putting it in the xmas fund.. thinking im going to do a Secret santa basket with it..
so we were also supposed to go out all of us to a concert last night. didnt go.. instead went out to a local pub..prolly cost more but the i got to hear my youngest sing (its a karaoke place) for the first time.. my word.. he has beautiful lungs.. i cried..
and met some nice people..
then went to go this morning to another sale...????? not even sure what happened there.. maybe i missed it LOL...oh well saving my bucks for tomorrow.. heading to talize -50% off today can't wait.. have some xmas projects im working on.. wanna get stuff cheap..anyway.. not so bad..all in all we've been behaving ourselves.
still waiting on word for my sons college tuition though and when he starts.. that better come in soon. geez!
