Well now how do commemorate walkonby joining the retiring ranks?
I’m certain that she has gratitude & can look back with sincere thanks,
35 years of delivering our mail even through inclement weather,
No more heavy carrier bags to lug; you must feel light as a feather,
No more getting up early even before the birds start chirping,
No more wondering what us peasants are doing while you're busy working!
No more people asking you – where the hell is my cheque?
No more worries about slipping on someone’s icy deck?
No more illegible writing & omitted postal codes,
No more yappy dogs defending their humble abodes,
No more real estate flyers or the ones for fitness clubs,
No more of those rumours about posties hanging out in pubs,
No more sorting or cavorting with any co-workers, who are crabby,
I must say that 35 years cap a career that’s no that shabby!
I’m sure you’ll miss the camaraderie, but you can always stay in touch,
I’m also sure that there are aspects of the job; you will miss so much,
But, looking forward to the retiree years, dancing at your fingertips,
Your life as a lady of leisure is all for you & retirement has no scripts,
Congratulations on your years of service you can hold your head up high,

You've captured it all my Dear, the highs and lows of working, the people I will leave there and will surely miss. The pride I took in serving the public that went hand in hand with the frustrations I felt at times. ( kind of like the awful aftertaste when licking the postage stamps of yesteryear ) .

Thank you for making what will be my last week at work that much sweeter!! I will post daily in here as a sort of countdown.
I love all the funny pics and quotes everyone, keep them coming, and I am pondering some new head gear to wear shortly, how might this look?
