Saundyl: congrats on paying off the loan
Nancy: 3 lbs! That`s fantastic. I won`t be doing that unless I stop eating my Cadbury chocolate bars.
MrsSunshine: sounds like you`re on a roll with your projects.
We don`t buy bottled water. In fact I don`t like it. We have hard well water here that I like. I always fill my large Tupperware bottle half way and put in the freezer overnight. In the morning I fill with ice cubes and water and have ice water all day. My sister on the other hand buys water because she doesn`t like their chlorinated water.

Our cat!
It seems to decrease urinary problems since we switched from tap and thus a very frugal thing to do! Let vet bills. lol.
The bottled water is only for him, the rest of us drink from the tap. It is ridiculous. Fancy pants Himalayan.

Nancy congrats on the weight loss!!!I have been doing the weight loss thread but have been absent for a couple of weeks...just taking a break.
Saundl good for you for getting your loan paid off, doesn't it feel great!!
Natalka I hope your back gets better soon, please go easy.
Bottled Water---Well we got the water cooler system from our daughter as a gift, but we just refill the big jug with tap water, we love having hot and cold water as a convenience but not the price of the big water jugs.
We also use a water cooler at our cabin and haul water from home to fill the jugs.We have super soft eggy smelling well water which is so gross. We also buy bottled water in the summer, but I buy it on sale and stock up at No Frills when they are 1.00 for a case of no name brand.
Have a great weekend everyone.. the weekend is almost here!! I can;t wait to watch the opening Olympic ceremonies tomorrow night!! Will be a frugal one here I plan on sticking close to home and getting lots of organizing and cleaning done while watching as much of the olymics as I can!!! I have a project for next week that may take a bit out of the budget but I am excited about starting it. I am going to make an upholstered headboard.I am thinking about this one or maybe another one that isn't quite so frufru!!

We buy bottled water when we go camping because BF doesnt want us drinking the water from the camper after its been dewinterized. The antifreeze he uses is supposedly trailer water safe but it leaves a taste.
Plus....the campground we tend to go to has no running water so we have to take our own water anyways.
At home we put tap water into a jug in the fridge and drink that. At work the boss buys the big jugs of bottled water.
At this time the govt student loan is only 4.80 a month in interest. I want to have a little bit of a savings for either emergencies or eventually retirement.
The business loan - well it would lower the interest in the long term however at this point I'm not willing to put that much extra on it in one month when we've used up my cushion for 1/2 of the bill for the pipes being frozen. The defrosting also upped the bills for the propane and the water for the month as well.
Thank you.
I wont forget you guys I just might join the weight loss thread and snoop on the rant thread.
(im trying but im a VERY slow weight looser because of a genetic disorder which causes problems with how my body sees different foods and if i loose weight too fast my healing goes even more down hill - one little knick from shaving my legs takes 6-8 weeks to heal. Anything worse is even longer. I had several cuts this year that i got in march and they finally healed at the end of august WITH treatments at the hospital and dressings with homecare. I've been tested for diabetes - its not a cause)
I hope you feel better soon!
It was a nice feeling to be done the one. I have it figured out the final govt student loan will be paid off by december of this year. 10 more months thank god.
Thank you. Its such a nice feeling. I spent ages lately debating where to allocate the "extra" funds to to benefit us the most in the long run. Debt being paid off is important but i truly feel a savings is equally so.
Thank you.
Wow...missed the 3 pounds post. Congrats Nancy!
It sure does!

I don't know what is it with people clearing snow in the early morning. I can understand wanting to do it when there is no one about, but in cities or heavily populated areas, it's unpleasant. Yesterday, there was a digger removing snow so people could see traffic near the curbs but he was doing it at 1 AM. From all the beep, beep, beeping, it sounded like the only gear he had was reverse. Now I know the second someone turns off the reverse beeper, someone will get backed into, even at 2 AM in a deserted street..... But seriously. I wish they wouldn't do it in the wee hours of the morning. If LO wakes up because of it, I will be grouchy.
You saved that much by not shopping?
Wow, and congrats!
Happy birthday to you!
I hope your LO gets better soon. It's terrible that LOs get sick at all.
When mine so much as has a sniffle, I think "poor thing". I have to take her in tomorrow for a emergency doctor's appointment. A dark spot showed up and I'm hoping he says it isn't serious.
Mine as well! I just noticed it tonight. I hope it's not a permanent increase.
I've heard of it being 55 as well. As for taking grandma shopping, you must think we're all younger than we sound! I am not young enough to take my grandma shopping.
You need to do that crazy happy dance like they do in the lottery commercials each time you weigh yourself. That can be your new exercise routine.
3.2 pounds since last Thursday is amazing!
We do not. Once when I was at school, I looked at a bottle of water to see where it was from. It was from the next town over where I grew up. On the picture, it showed mountains, evergreens, deer, a river... There is none of that in that town! It's flat Ontario apple country, with no evergreens, and the river is in our town. I had a mental image of some guy filling these bottles with his hose in the backyard.
I gave my Himalayan mix water from the Brita. We all drink Brita water and it's just fabulous. I'd probably drink tap water too though.
Congratulations! You're going to do the crazy million dollar dance when you get that done with, I hope. You're so close!!
I wish I could see the light at the end of our tunnel. Every time I look at it, it seems like it'll take another three years. It was five years in 2009 (but a three year term), and now it'll be another three years because some money had to be diverted to prepare for LO. What am I going to do with all that money when I have no debt? I think I'll cash it all out in $5 bills and roll in it like Scrooge McDuck. Then I'll have to bathe because that's just really icky. And then I'll probably pay daycare. Ha ha!

I went to SDM last night to get milk... $4.29??? When did that happen?! Guess when I'm at the grocery store loading up I just grab the milk without paying attention to the price... but I noticed it last night!

I say go for the chocolate bar but I am probably not one to talk as I got really upset last night and pulled out the Golden Oreos, good news I only ate 3 (opps only meant to eat 2 but the 3rd was calling me after dinner).
The grieving process is a hard one. actually me and a co worker were discussing it yesterday as it had been 6 years since her grandmother passed away. The part that gets me is some days it seems like yesterday and other times it seems so long ago when thinking about someone you lost. I cannot believe it will be 2 years this summer Nanny has been gone but at the same time at times it feels like forever, same with Hezy and Grandpa.
We used to buy bottled water and I think it was just more of a habit, quite a few years ago they had a huge algae (sp??) problem here and it was in our water. The town said the water was safe but I have mold allergies so I was breaking out in this red rash just showering so we switched to bottle water. It was not until a few years ago we said no more and stopped buying bottle water it was a pain to lug in not to mention since at home other than Tea the only thing we drink is water we were going through cases each week usually 2 to 3. Now we drink tap water but on occasion will buy a case just to have on hand, last case was bought July or August of last year and there is still some in the case.
I will admit yesterday was not my finest day I was so overtired and cranky. I found it best to keep to myself.
Hope everything is ok with your LO.

Good Morning All,
So last night was so not my night, by the time I got home I was super tired and cranky and people I live with pissed me off the moment I pulled into the parking lot. The good news is they came and re plowed our parking lot yesterday the bad news is only two spots in visitor which is where I have to park got plowed because either people did not move their cars or residence with parking spaces park in visitor so their spots get plowed so visitor does not. As well there is a older couple that lives in our complex that never come out and move their car when the plow is there but after he leaves they come out and move their cars into the plowed spots. It is not that they go out and when they come back take the plowed the spots no they will come out just to move into the plowed spots. So since two of us who park in visitor work and leave every morning by 6:30 am and don't come until 4 pm they come and take out two plowed spots leaving us with the two banked up spots.
As well got in a huge fight with my mom last night via text, she knew I was over tired and cranky and just keep pushing me and I am the first to admit when I get that over tired I am not pleasant to be around my body does not handle lack of sleep well, I have been to the doctor many times and well this is just me nothing they can do for me. So I figured since I was still home alone I could have a nice quiet night at home, nope Mom would not stop texting me and pushing me when I said I did not want to talk about it.
The good news I was in bed before 8 pm last night so I got a full nights sleep but am still tired, why is it that one or two bad nights of sleep can ruin you for the week????????????????
Last night I did not get as much done as I wanted, I got the dishes done as well started boxing up all of Mom's stuff from the living room and than it was bed time.
This morning I got a ton done, took out pizza dough and homemade sauce for dinner tonight got a little bit more cleaning done in the living room well I wait for my car to warm up. Got to work got all my price changes done, did a co worker who is away today's paper work, filed all of my 2012 and 2013 price changes and this was before 8 am. Sad part is now I am ready for today to be over. I was so productive before 8 am that I now feel it should be a lot later and a lot closer to me going home.
Hope everyone has a great Friday off to see what is next on my list of things to do. But I am sure I will be back in a bit.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Perhaps everyone knows this but I thought I would share just in case. So last year I started collecting my pension for the first time and on this years taxes I get an extra 2,000 pension income tax deduction plus I can elect to income split my pension with my spouse if it is to our advantage each year. The income split only applies to my work pension, not CPP and OAS when I get older. Although I think you can choose to split your CPP with your spouse at the time you start receiving it if you choose to. It all means less for the taxman and more for me which is good.

Hope everyone has a great weekend-tonight we will watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics with the girls to kick off a lazy, cold weekend. I assume DD survived the frigid conditions at Lake Louise because I haven't heard a word-no news is good news-and they are due back this afternoon.

TGIF! Busy day for me at work (was hoping to take the afternoon off to hit Costco with my honey but I'm way too busy
) Oh well, get all my stuff done then I can enjoy the weekend without thinking about what I have to do on Monday! Only 1 hockey game for DS on Sunday but he wants to watch a game tomorrow night at the rink so will take him and a friend. Will be a fun night out and not cost much and close to home which is nice. I will get out of that arena for 1 month this year I think (after ice hockey is ball hockey!!!) Will plan meals with food from freezer for the weekend. I'm starting to see space in my freezer! yeah! Hope to declutter a bit more this weekend. Didn't get much done this week. Have a great day everyone.
