The Penguins of Madagascar - 2/10
What a dud. They should never have made this movie. The penguins always made the Madagascar movies but they couldn't seem to make their own movie. Too bad. The two points comes from the plays on actors names. "Charlize, they're on the ray. Helen, hunt them down. Robin, write this down. Will, hurt them. Halle, bury them," and from Skipper always getting Dave's name wrong.

    Into The Woods 7/10

I was not familiar with the original Sondheim production, so I couldn't compare - though after I saw the movie, I did some reading online.
I did like the mash-up of different fairytales.

Meryl was FAB - though my fave character was the Baker.
    Little Red was irritating.
Couldn't have been a more perfect wolf than Johnny Depp, though it was a teeny role.
Jack's mom - Tracey Ullman - was wonderful!

I absolutely adore musicals and usually get the soundtracks, but this was not my cup of tea at all. Either the songs were boring, or repetitive, or too pop-ish. Oh, and WAY too rhymey..

thanks Natalka, between you and Lynn49 I am convinced to wait till this comes to the Red Box instead of paying Cineplex admissions and I may get to take it out with a free coupon code!!

I saw the Skeleton Twins today from the Red Box, a 7/10 from me unfortunately and although I love Kristen Wig and Bill Hader together the subject matter of the entire flick was so damn depressing and oddball ( I know real life issues ) but ....I am so used to the 2 of them cracking me up from their days on SNL.
The happy scenes of them together were awesome though!!

I was bored about half way through and wished they'd stop singing for 5 minutes to get some dialogue in. I do agree that Meryl was FAB and the look of the film was really good. As for the songs, it pretty much seemed one song with "into the woods" repeated ad nauseam. If I want something to sing a long to, I will have to go back and watch Meryl sing in Mamma Mia.
