Have to agree with Patty, noticed the same with our local RCSS. Before our No Frills garden centre shut down, I got 2 veggie plants for 50 cents, both are thriving in the garden. And last weekend when they officially closed, anything left was free (although I missed it...saw the signs later that day).

It occurred to me today that we all would have done really well in the "marshmallow experiment". The only difference is, we wait and wait and wait so we can get ALL the marshmallows at 70-90% off (or free). Then we're in charge. We stockpile them so that we never have to wait to eat a marshmallow ever again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshmallow_experiment

I got cards at Carlton cards for 80 cents each. (They were $1 plus 20% off). They also had a variety of other items that were 75%-90% off.

My DH spotted mini roses on sale at Sobey' s at 5 for $10. We bought 5 and I think they will do well in our "mini" garden at our new home. They did have 1 lonely begonia plant on clearance for .99 but I resisted. I don't know where to put it.

I surely hope so! I'm limited to a 'balcony garden', and this is my first try at growing tomato plants. I can get pretty strong winds at times (not to mention the odd squirrel or pigeon that likes to dig in my pots!). I purchased grafted tomatoes which are supposed to be quite hardy...so we'll see what happens!

Another trip tp RCSS garden centre...not much left after no tax day but picked up a couple of nice large pots ...one full of herbs and one with small shrubs about $5 each, couple of packs of pussy willow branches for $2...will use in my Christmas urns. Some ivy plants 3 for $1...will put in small pots in my gazebo...which is almost finished. Will post picks when we are finished. And some spikes also to put in a pot in my gazebo. Must be closing soon as not much is left.

I missed my RCSS garden centre sale by about a day. They had the gates closed and were in the process of tossing the dead and dying plants while the good ones had been moved to the side walk in front of the store. They were still trying to sell those for regular price! Not impressed.
