Hi Tara I hope you are doing well. Thanks for the update. I come home from radiation and have lots of reading here to catch up on. I miss coming here but I'm tired alot now. So I try and come here on Fridays after I get home. We all have Monday off because of Family Day! Just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate your kind words, and most definitely your thoughts and prayers. They do help. I'm trucking along and just going with the flow, that's all we all can do no matter what our circumstances are. I went to the clinic today as I've been "under the weather" the past few days, but I knew it was more than just a scratchy throat. Seems I have bronchitis. Meh. I was given 7 days of antibiotics and a puffer which should do the trick. This is why I was told my Doctors don't want me on the dexamethasone if I don't have to be though because it does beat down your immune system.

Hey Horndogg! You're always on my mind too. I know how exhausting radiation can be, just take things as easy as you have to and schedule things if you need to. Even if that means SC time lol. But don't worry about us here at SC either, we know you are priority #1 right now. Though we appreciate you thinking of us. Enjoy having family day off and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Thinking of you and hoping that the VERY COLD weather is not causing you too much grief! Glad to hear about your scans not showing any changes. Hoping you're feeling better too!

Thank you Skippy I do appreciate it. Avon I've just had to spend more money on cab fare as I don't drive and can't walk in this crap or stand in this crap to wait for the buses to come. It gets really expensive! I made the executive decision to stay on my meds a tiny bit longer than my Drs wanted me to (okay 10 days longer) because I have a date with BRYAN ADAMS this Saturday!!! WOOT! And I wanted to make sure I was in TIP TOP shape to go to Toronto. I am. My plan worked! I'll start weening off my meds when I return home on Sunday.

I received notice that my next MRI will be June 11 so my follow up will be shortly afterwards. That works out PERFECT. I was so worried it would fall around when the PanAm games were on and I'd have to deal with nightmare traffic. The games start July 10th and even though it's being held in Toronto there are games in Hamilton (where I get my MRI and meet with my Oncology team) and rowing will be held in Port Dalhousie, which is 5 minutes from my house. So I was hoping to avoid tests around that time and thankfully it looks like I will.

    Thanks for posting your update.
Can the cab fare be written off as a transportation/medical expense on your tax return?
Also, good planning for the summer appointments with the Pan Am games. Forgot about the dates and the traffic nightmare to come. Oshawa area will also have events, so will look at those dates. Thanks for the heads up.

That's a good question Shwa Girl, I have no clue but I will look into that. Also to note about the Pan Am games. The full event dates are as follows:

    Pan Am: July 10-26
    Parapan Am - August 7-15

I was hoping to hibernate those 2 months. lol Traffic will be brutal around here with it being summer, and event and of the tourist attractions and hotes. There is Niagara on the lake, Niagara Falls, the Escarpment and of course Port Dalhousie. EEEEEP!!!!!

This is where rowing will be in July/August. These are my nieces enjoying the 5 cent carousel rides and the beach last year. So anyone wanting to enjoy the rowing events I highly encourage it. It IS beautiful.

i know,(in Qc) that depeding on the milage you are from the hospital , you can have a part of your transports fees paid....and as per Shaw Girl suggestion, you can ask revenue canada

About the cab, if they do allow, the taxi driver has to write on the receipt the start destination and the hospital as the end destination, I think. I think Canada Revenue Agency will be looking for details.

Also, Tara, I do know that the Cancer Society has drivers at your disposal for no fee whatsoever, because my brother drives patients for them, into Toronto for their appointments.

Here's the number for info: 905-684-6455

Thank you Lynn but I can't catch a ride with the CCS to my appointments from my area *argh! Because, according to the gal I spoke with I can't take my husband with me as they want to keep as many seats open for patients as possible. I understand they want to utilize space, however, I need to have my husband with me when I go to my appointments. I'm sorry that I have brain cancer that affects my brain function and not another kind of cancer that doesn't, but I get freaking disoriented in walmart. I was joking with andit that my husband is my leash. haha. He is though, I need to have him with me everywhere or I can get lost easily. Nope. Not lost. "Misplaced". As for Bryan.......man I'm excited!! He's aged a tiny bit, but he is 55 now. It's okay though because I still love him!

Aw, Tara, that's awful that they won't make an allowance for someone in your situation..perhaps if you had a doctor's recommendation? That's too bad, it really is.
I was joshing you about Bryan looking old (although he really has aged not in a nice way....?)...because usually guys seem to age well and we women tend to look our age....except for...well...ahem........some of us........................
