i don't see why i should cut back on the few enjoyments i have in life just because i buy cheaper food or use a food ban a couple times a year. is all. I do not have a library near me for one, and I need the net not just for self but the spouse as he uses it for his own work. The tv is entertainment and it will be the first to go if my budget does not balance.

I got the cravings for it, after I posted it, so I threw it together on the stove, dumped some kale in it, and we had it for dinner
yummy! The kids weren't as jazzed with the kale, but they ate it. I think I got the recipe years ago from weight watchers when I did the program in the early 2000s, and it as a 1 point soup on their program. It's low cal, whatever it is. It is good with cheddier cheese, or paremsian sprinked on top too. I have so many canned veggies from the last green giant coupons last year (?). I bought like 60 cans of various veggies, low sodium, and as they had a long, long shelf life, they won't go bad before being used. I think I paired that coupon when they were 50/60 cents a can, and they were 20/25 cents each, or so

Hopefully more people decide to vote next election and rid ourselves of the most incompetent government in Canadian history!

idonovan I don't think people are telling you to cut back on enjoyment. They are just trying to help you find more cheap ways for you to enjoy yourself and cut costs at the same time

IT was good, and I have lunch to bring to work several days this week, instead of being lazy going across to Tim Hortons for soup
, especially on a thread about being good with money/food, and I'm having TImmie's soup 4 days a week or so. So, even when I'm good with $$ at times, sometimes I'm not super frugal All the time

These are the "high-rolling" times still. There will come a time when the price of a loaf of bread will be out of reach for the "average" citizen. Not good things coming unfortunately.

True.
Economists are predicting a 3% increase in some food prices for 2015:
- Meat: 3-5%
- Fish: 3-5%
- Dairy and eggs: -1 to +1%
- Grains: 0-2%
- Fruit & Nuts: 1-3%
- Vegetables: 3-5%

That's why it's great to be a Smart Canuck.
We will find a way to find the deals.
We always do.
We will survive even this.
