i am aware of that and the fact this article was written by an analyst and his job is to write speculations. It's also human behavior to assume something written by professional gambler to be true.
I am more annoyed by the fact that people talk to me as if they heard I'm getting my 2 weeks notice from someone that is not my employer.
I thought Jacob was long gone. I haven;t seen any Jacob stores in Vancouver.

I know my Jacob outlet store is long gone and I believe the Hamilton mall stores packed up months ago. Lime Ridge Mall used to have an outlet and regular store-both gone.
About employees getting news notice from employer before the public gets notice: it's not really about telling the employees first as much as handling the information given to the public first, especially if a company is publically traded. Situation might involve stopping trade of their shares if there is a significant announcement and stock exchange has to park sales just before and during announcement so company has to alert stock exchange in advance.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I always try to buy stuff first at Target...only shop at WM if I had no choice...I would cry if Target leave Canada.
I can honestly say that since Target opened last year...I have shopped there regularly and never once been treated poorly there.
The only thing I can think of is PR, and also instore demo of their product brands or brands that we are not familiar with.Last edited by Decaf; Wed, Jan 14th, 2015 at 07:45 PM.

Target has stunned the retail community by announcing it's planning to close all its 133 stores in Canada and file for creditor protection.
The announcement Thursday deals a huge blow to Target Canada's 17,600 employees.
Target Canada says that to ensure fair treatment of its employees, nearly all will receive a minimum of 16 weeks of compensation, including wages and benefits coverage for those employees not required for the wind-down period.
All of Target Canada's 133 stores will remain open during the liquidation process.
Target Corporation CEO Brian Cornell said that after thoroughly reviewing the company's Canadian performance, Target Canada had little hope of reaching full profitability until at least 2021.

Use your gift card for groceries....and don't use it all at once but I would use it now because they are declaring bankruptcy.....stock up on personal care items, cleaning supplies, groceries ie canned stuff, coffee, etc. Unfortunately once someone declares bankruptcy the rules change.
