I live by myself which means I don't have to worry about being quiet. However, if I have guests and I'm the first to rise, I try to be quiet and respectful of others sleep time. I recall a family member brought their two young kids to stay for over a week. Every morning around 5 am, the 5 year old and his dad would bounce a soft rubber type ball around the living room. Hitting walls too! Young kids like to have fun and may not understand. I asked the dad if he could please stop tossing the ball around the living room and play in the basement. Not only that, but I was worried with it being tossed, it could break something.

If I somehow manage to be the first one up I move around like a stealth ninja. One floor creak and everyone is up. Bye-bye quiet time. Pretty sure my kids have some kind of sonar hearing. lol

Prior to this accident, hubby and I usually get up at about the same time every morning...he puts the coffee on, I doddle into the livingroom after him. Now, even more than 7 months after my fall, he's awake and quietly having his coffee and reading in the livingroom before I wake up at all. Honestly, one day out to an appointment wipes me out! My satamina is in the gutter. Much work to be done in the spring when Jenny and I can go for our walks again. On the odd mornings that I'm up first, I close our door and let him sleep in; when he gets up, I say, "Good morning, princess!"....lol!
Whenever we had overnight guests, I was up first, coffee on, breakfast table set, ready for the others to get up.
Toban, how incredibly rude!! A 5-yr old kid certainly WOULD know how and why to keep quiet in the morning while others were sleeping! I hope you don't need to put up with that inconsiderate behaviour from that dad and son again! Boggles the mind........

There is usually quite the gap on waking up in our house. During the week I am up between 5 & 5:30 to head to work Mom doesn't get up till well she says she is awake between 7 and 8 but doesn't get up until 10 or 11 (oh the life). During the week I am in get up and out mode not too much noise other making tea and eating a bowl of granola.
Now weekends are a whole other story. I am usually up around 6 again Mom is not up until somewhere between 10 & 1 if she is not working (NO COMMENT) and I do not care about making noise before she gets up. I am a morning person she is a night person she makes noise well I am trying to sleep so I make noise well she sleeps. I cannot wait until she decides to start her to day to get everything I need to accomplish done with a few exceptions, I won't run the bread machine (really loud beeping) or clean the bathroom (right beside her room), everything else is fair game if I need to get it done.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

I'm always the first one up between the Lady and I, and I try my hardest to stay quiet, which includes laying out my clothes for the next day ready to go in the bathroom, so I don't have to come back into the bedroom to get things and wake her up.
There's the odd time I'll have to go back into the bedroom for something...and it never fails that I hit absolutely every possible noise producing implement in the room...metal buckle on a belt clanking on the hook, corner of the hamper knocking it over, stubbing my toe on the bed post, hitting the door foot bumper spring and getting that 'sproing' sound, letting go of the door handle too fast and having the latch snap shut loudly...you name it it hit it...
Only other noise I'll make is when I come in to say good bye before I leave for the day.Last edited by danger_dan; Fri, Jan 16th, 2015 at 01:18 PM.

^^ same as you dan. For more years than I wanna admit I have been respectfully tip toeing around letting shift worker DH sleep. Not much has changed now that I am retired, I still wake up early, still try my best to shhh the dogs, check the phone ringer is not on, pray the bloody garbage men come a tad later to pick up and watch eagle eyed for any delivery people coming up the path ( I try to stop them from ringing the bell )
DH used to accuse me of purposely banging pots and pans together....he is so funny. You cannot cook without making some noise! He had the choice to go hungry instead, but in the end he closed the bedroom door and covered his head with another pillow.

I have to have a half hour at least to my self in the mornings, which works because if allowed my husband would sleep in like a teenager every day!!! And yes I try to be quiet because I treasure my alone time with my coffee and thoughts!!

I am usually up by 3, husband doesn't get up til 6 or 6:30.
Lucky me, I don't have to be quiet in the house, I can do or play anything. We're in a small house, so the bedroom is right between the kitchen, living room, and the room where the computer is.
The only thing I don't do is go back in the bedroom because I don't want to take the chance to wake him up. If I do crawl back into bed before his wakeup time, the majority of the time he'll just snuggle in - but there's been the odd time he's awoken, so I don't usually take that chance.
