DH and I went for a morning walk before it got too hot out. SCORE-we found a driveway full of moving boxes for free so we picked them up as my Mum is moving to Toronto next month and we will be helping her pack( I have a sister there who will help her get settled into an apartment). My sister's husband just got a job offer in Buenos Aires so if they accept I may suddenly need to visit in winter when it will be warm there-can't turn down free accomodation and endless Scrabble games. There could be some trips to Toronto to see my Mum in my future too.

@Sweets parrow- He will realize down the road that you answered using your head and not heart. It's his family and its hard for him to think wisely. I had to do the same thing years ago- His sibling was a party animal and cared only about herself. She would tell me how she was saving up money for a downpayment on a house- but the night before it was to close she called him asking for the $- Which he was going to give her. I told him not to. She could party/smoke and drink, wear the newest clothing and trade her car in all the time then she could figure it out. She used another relative, had them co-sign on cars-credit cars, cleaned them out of savings/retirement money. Still a mooch to this day I hear. (oh and never bought a house to this day- Guess she didn't want to save/use her $)

@Natalka vent away, we all do it from time to time. Since it's been 2 weeks with your menstruation perhaps you should give a quick phone call with your gynecologist? Hope it ends soon and you start to feel like your normal self. Hugs to you and your dh is a real gem my friend and your son is doing great with his life skills, trades & personally.

Inquring Minds Want to Know!!!!
If you were gifted $400 what would you use it for, do with it, etc????
I am really torn with this one as I know the difference between wants vs. needs but sometimes they are both i.e. a window that has moisture between the glass - the window still functions but cannot see through it , etc. No cold comes in it, etc. but it's cloudy/milky etc.
My considerations are -
1. Add to a emergency fund as there is only a few hundred dollars in there for something unexpected or unforeseen
2. put $ towards the dinning room window which has moisture between the glass (the $ would not pay for the whole window but 1/2 of it) making it easier to replace sooner rather than later.
3. general renovation account....
Knock on wood I don't have any outstanding bills so I'm blessed there. We really don't need anything per say of course we all have wants but my needs trump the wants....2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

Jasperandchar- I would put the money in your emergency account and once you are finished funding your renovation account for the spray foam from selling stuff you don't need I would start saving the same way for a new window if you really want it replaced sooner then later.

@ Natalka Vent away. We all need to do that sometimes. Your hubby is a real keeper and it sounds like Milan is following in his dad`s footsteps.
@ sweetsparrow. You definitely made the right decision. People like that will never grow up and take responsibility as long as they have enablers.
$400 to do with what I want? My CC would be grateful for an extra payment.
@ Andit Hope you get feeling better soon.

I'm on a quest to reduce food waste at my house so I've started a new thread in the food section called "Post Your Leftover Creations".

QOD If you were gifted a certain amount of $ - let's say $400, what would you do with it?
I think I would use half for needs, half for wants.
$200 - preschool cost for summer, clothing for kids, or "stock pile" (not that we really keep a stock pile but some extra diapers, paper towels...etc)
$200 - date with DH....
Now I am secretly hoping to find four big ones under my pillow. lol"There are more important things--friendship and bravery...."
