Prayers and healing thoughts for Avon's Husband, please....

Hello folks! I have got to STOP trying to use my Kindle to type messages here. It seems I always lose them.

Well tomorrow we start the second round of chemo - with slightly different meds and slightly different follow-up meds.

This week off has afforded us some "good" days - or at least parts of days.

We went to the hospital this morning for dh's bloodwork and it showed that his haemoglobin is good, so we're a go for the chemo tomorrow.

Then we went to have "breakfast out" - but the exertion has meant that we had to leave early and dh spent the rest of the day mostly in bed or snoozing "feeling like crap." So you take the sunshine with the clouds.

Although his appetite has really fallen off, he does try to eat and supplements with Boost and Ensure and his weight, although it is down, is not significantly so.

The Occupational Therapist came today to check on his walker - and he says it's working, although he does not like to use it.

Our cleaning person came today after not being able to make it for quite a while. I did get a bit of cleaning in two weeks ago when dh's daughter and grand-daughter were coming but it has been pretty hit and miss. So I'm feeling a lot better about it.

So we have to launch ourselves out of bed in the morning to make it to the hospital by 8:30. We should be done by about noon.

Oh avon, you are a marvel. I hope this round goes well and there are more days filled with sunshine than clouds.

I'm praying for a quick journey through the rest of chemo and no complications.
I'm praying that you're surrounded with family and friends who love you and take care of you while you take care of DH. I'm praying that everything is going to be alright.

Yup, sick puppy - I think I posted on the "Chat-A-Thon" - my brain is numb!

I am taking an hour to think about what the day is about. Good Friday has always meant a lot to me. I am missing being with my church family this week.

A lovely man from our congregation took the time to carve and polish a "Comfort Bird" for DH and I to use in our journey.

It is small enough to fit in your hand and wonderfully smooth.

Here is the message which came with it. I t makes me tear up just thinking about it - as I do daily when I read your wonderful posts.

I am a comfort bird.
I like to be held and gently rubbed.
Use me in ways that feel good to you.
I am a gift that keeps on giving.

NOT JUST A WOOD CARVING

Once I was a tree, took nourishment
from the earth, and light from the sky.

Time passed, then like all living things, I died,
changed form and became simply wood.

Through conscious awareness I was reshaped,
given new form and new meaning.

Now as a comfort bird, my existence shows
that your life too has significance.

Oh, how beautiful and what a lovely sentiment; you are so blessed with such good friends, Avon.

Good Friday meant a lot to our family, growing up as a kid; nowadays my beliefs have changed, but I still understand the fact that so many people feel compelled to honour this day. Different beliefs around the world, yet all share the same meaning: there is a God, whatever his or her name may be, and for that we're all thankful.
