Happy May 1st! We went to the Elmvale Maple syrup festival yesterday. Tons of people but was a beautiful day out. Posting stuff for sale today to fill our summer fun jar. The Buttertart festival in Midland is next!

We were considering going but passed to go to garage sales instead. We'll definitely be going to the buttertart festival though!
My cat will likely need more dental surgery. He had $600 dental surgery in the end of February to have two teeth removed and yet there is still a foul smell from his mouth and I've finally got a good look and see two more teeth with inflamed gums. It seems every month there is always a large expenditure.
Last year it was my car almost every month. Now thats all in shape. This year we have had my dental bills, DH dental bills, vehicle and property insurance in one lump sum (cheaper this way but still $2300!), cat dental bills, DH's van needed $2000 worth of work. Sigh. Just can't win even when you try so hard!Insert Clever Signature Here

Laundry is on the go. Teen has been driven to work. Posted a bunch of stuff for sale while cleaning out the spare room and have a few bites so far! Think I better switch laundry and get some lunch!

rainy day here with an early lacrosse game. But today we played at home so could come back thaw and on go back to do it again. Usually Sunday is a total write off so this is a nice change but I had hoped we would work outside during the day. but no luck.

All of the home reno/room clearout stories posted in the frugal chat thread are so inspiring! My bedroom is doing fine with the new curtains but the walls, closet and storage needs await budget, purchase of supplies and a well of energy to get it done.
Drizzly day with fog everywhere on the Hamilton Mountain area. Spent $12.95 on a short jacket (a brown plus size style good for those days when cold>hot happens quickly), a deep turquoise cable knit cardigan and a cotton shirt that looks like linen and has tabs to anchor rolled-up sleeves. Now I know why I have felt the store looks picked over on a Monday or weekday sale-I have to get there at store opening for the VIP days to see a great selection of clothing! About 20 of us at door at 10am but noticed the store had at least 50 people inside. While looking over the short sleeve and long sleeve tops, I kept seeing colours or fabrics I loved but the sizes were smaller than I needed or the repair/alteration work would not be worthwhile. Was surprised I spent almost an hour from start to checkout in the store! So happy I have some spring items
Noticed yesterday while grocery shopping that the chocolate chip prices are well over $3 per bag-missed getting them for $2.50 last week. Did make and bake a banana loaf and braided raisin loaf with golden raisins in the afternoon/evening and cooked the frozen meatballs on parchment on a baking sheet too, so they are heat & serve ready in the sauce (2 jars of a Classico flavour) for today's dinner while pasta is cooked.
Why do paper/plastic supplies seem to run out at about the same time? Did not see any 99 cent deals in flyers for plastic wrap so purchased the 30m No Name wrap at Shoppers for $1.29. The waxed paper chase will resume later this week. I hesitated to buy more baking supplies without confirming what I do need (like oatmeal-I know I was planning on buying it a few months ago but put the bag back as it was over $3). Brakes on my spending impulses are causing some real stop the wallet moments in-stores in the past two days. I did see a display of the new Tic Tac flavour mixers ($2.99) but I put one cherry/cola pack back and thought "wait for redemption time." Second Shoppers store had $2 off coupons on the Orville popped corn bags ($3.79) on a few flavours-expiry dates seemed OK-plus I saw the supply of my fave seaweed snacks. No, I could not indulge (I had my fun last month)without messing the May budget. Must Bake Cookies This Week.Last edited by Ciel; Sun, May 1st, 2016 at 02:21 PM.

Afternoon all,
Did got 2 things done on my today's to do list for the contractor, he's in so much pain from working for 1 month straight with only 2 days off. The $ is nice but the pain not so much.
The contractor will be back tomorrow to do touch-ups on the drywall and hopefully start the tiling in the vestibule if dh can install the plywood .
I was so happy that dh's sdm card got offer last week BUT now he didn't even get the usual weekly offer and strange thing is I acutally used 1 of his offers on Wednesday. He rec'd a Monday, Wednesday and week long offer BUT now nothing but 3 coupons for points on items....grr...I guess I will wait and see if he receives a Monday or Wednesday offer.
Wishing everyone a great afternoon & evening.2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

Thanks for those other days of note, @avoncallingu ! Taco Thursday seems good for me on May 5th but maybe the Restaurante kits would be the better option (more work but the flavours are great).

The tax fund to take care of the taxes paid gap between taxes deducted from gross work and gross EI incomes and what taxes will be payable>there will be a difference to cover. See the post in the Finances-2015 tax return thread. She can plan ahead somewhat by trying that calculator mentioned.
