Good morning, everyone!!
Early start, heading to camp to start the shut-down this weekend; the kids will arrive later so Hubby and I offered to make dinner, so homemade hamburgers (I can't eat those frozen ones from stores even the highest quality) and sausages with a cranberry, blueberry salad with a dijon /blueberry, honey dressing. I've wanted to make that all summer, but didn't have the opportunity.
Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

"Ladies", huh, @danger_dan? You haven't really met us, obviously.
I stand corrected...I'm okay, but I can't vouch for the other two!

.Hahaha... @GoJays , I remember, several years ago, we visited friends in another city, all cousins bbq-ing, and when asked I replied, 'a glass of white wine'. There must have been a shocked look on my face when I was offered it in a normal type of ... oh, like a scotch glass! Seriously, I couldn't believe it! Everyone laughed of course...our good host left and returned with my wine in a proper wine glass, lol! We all had such a giggle. To this day...it has to be a prooer wine glass and I don't care what the new millenials drink it from! I can understand the idea of a straw, however...somedays!
You're so right, the summer has flown by..the bbqs here, deck card games, visiting, campfires, and chatting with neighbours, now friends...thank goodness for emails keeping us together.
But...I LOVE fall! Not because it's my birthday, although I do think it's not a coincidence...but the winter that follows?
Otoh...it does bring Christmas!!Last edited by Lynn49; Fri, Sep 10th, 2021 at 01:58 PM.

Nice reading back on the posts here....I do appreciate being included in your gaggle of guzzling goddesses @Lynn49 , so true, I make DH reach up and grab my wine glass off the top shelf ( btw top shelves in kitchens should be banned! I mean who the heck are they for? Giraffes? )
I can never get anything down from any of 'em, which come to think of it often spurns me so much I need a glass of wine to calm down......vicious cycle.
So closing up camp, that is the one true sad sign that summer has abandoned us isn't it? For us it will be the tear down of our gazebo out back, the furniture and cushions being Tetris-ed away into a shed that sure seemed very large when we bought it.
Quite happy that an idea came to mind this morning for a meal.
Made ( for DH ) so he could take some to work.
A colourful and meaty beefsteak/peppers/and a million other veggies stir fry and Basmati rice to lay it over.
I got to be the taste tester, you know to make sure it was just right for him. Had to taste a bowl of it to really make sure.
Whad'ya all think about the Blue Jays and there 8 game winning streak? AND the Sweep of the Yankees AND the fact that the last time the Yankees were swept in their own park was in 2003 and it was by the BLUE JAYS!! My head just exploded.
carry on all....
2023 had better show some promise or else!

You're just the cutest thing, @walkonby ...(and I HAVE met her, lol!)...you and I and "our" wine glasses! Two years ago DD and I were in Urban Barn and I saw a set of beautiful, blue bottom, fading to clear wine glasses with sparkles in them and omgosh I fell in love. I did not need them, so I left them behind. So what was one of my Christmas gifts? Those 6 stemmed wine glasses, and 6 with no stems! I, of course, use the stemmed ones, she uses the tumbler style, but they're still my favourites! We are spoiled, aren't we?
Your dinners always sound wonderful, and your diligence in taste-testing bowls of your offerings is likely why they're so delicious. What we homemakers have to endure!
Our Jay's are amazing!! I even watch those games now!
Yep...summer's over.
Our kids had to wait until our GS finished school to get here, so when we finished here, we swept their deck, Coloroxed tables, put out the cushions on their two sofas and two chairs, opened ther outdoor fridge and relaxed with a beer and a Matt&Steves clamato juice, lol!
I had prepared the blueberry/honey dressing for the blueberry/cranberry/feta salad to go along with our homemade hamburgers and the sausages bbq dinner. It might not be an ideal combination, but I've wanted to make that salad all summer!
So yes.....summer is coming to a screeching halt...maple trees here are turning red....but I do love this season!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!Last edited by Lynn49; Fri, Sep 10th, 2021 at 03:40 PM.
