dropping by for a quickie hello! ( and a bit of whining )
What was supposed to be a treat and a way to cap off the week that DH was off work for the week ( although toiled relentlessly on the front walkway ) that dinner out at the Keg was a waste of time.
We had no reservation but asked if we could just eat in the lounge area, but lucky us as someone cancelled right at that moment and they gave us their table!
We thought " this is our lucky day! " We were so wrong.
No server came to take our order, a solid 10 min. passed....I flagged one who was inspecting all the wine glasses on each table around us for water spots??!!! ...... I inquired if she knew who our server was, she obliged and took our order.
The usual routine for us is....just water thank you, no wine or bread, thanks.
But then we waited.....and waited....and waited some more.
Our water was topped up so many times I had to find the washroom! We now had TWO servers chatting us up as we became confused as to where the food was??
Finally the appy came, we had split a cold shrimp cocktail. Very tasty! Then waited again....like I am talking 20 min. minimum. Again they swooped in asking " can we top up your water ? "
Then only MY salad arrived and they had mixed in the dressing ( I asked for it on the side ) , so back it went.
When they returned after another 10-15 min. they did not have both our salads?? They seemed to think DH had wanted his fries swapped out for a Caesar and said they were going to bring it together with his rib combo. I heard DH order a separate Caesar so I have no idea what they were talking about.
DH was growling on the inside now.
ugh!! we should have left, all the signs were there that something was not right either with the staffing or the kitchen but
we persevered. I will say my Prime rib was delish, however one and a half hours spent there for the paltry amount of food that was prepped and served for us was inexcusable.
We left NO tip.
I spoke with the manager as I left as I wanted her to know why we had left no tip. I know it's NOT the servers fault if the food isn't ready, but it was insulting the way they kept hovering back to us asking if we wanted more water. Their lovely friendly demeanor was starting to grate on me because we did not come there for the chit chat. We wanted a meal!
o.k. rant over. Hope everyone drinks in their weekend with gusto!

Wow, @walkonby , we've never experienced that at our Keg!
Did you keep your receipt?
Email their (not local) customer service and tell them what transpired: a ruined evening, frustration, and feeling thoroughly humiliated!!
If they don't reimburse you for that wretched experience, and it better amount to more than that, take it higher!
How disgusting!

Maybe Natalka and GoJays are one and the same?
Nah, you are just noticing it now that I have figured out how to more easily post pics from my tablet (I upload pic, post, then have to edit post, upload a second time, then when I post the pic will show).
Just finished a great supper. Am trying to keep cool, so much humidity - and it will only get worse the next few days, gah!
Not that we don't welcome them, not at all, but I find it odd that 2,000 wildfire evacuees have begun arriving in Sask - first set to Regina, then to Saskatoon. Wondering why they wouldn't be kept within their own province instead of so far away? Not that our province can't accommodate them, we sure can, plus we have translators, cultural liaisons, etc. so they are as comfortable as can be. There has already been a call put out for wild meat and fish for them, I am sure people will readily donate those, as well as anything else needed.
The only thing I have read from articles was our premier saying how grateful we were that Ontario sent personnel to help fight wildfires here in the past. Maybe that's all it is, but I would think it would be harder for the evacuees to be so far away.
Hope you all have a Fab evening!

Good morning!
Today is the fish fry, live band day, so it's going to be a long night....well for us, anyway. The parties will continue after the music stops at 11pm (camp noise restriction), but we'll likely continue it after that somewhere. Yesterday we had a bunch on our deck after dinner, then visited with the kids, then spent a couple hours with friends at their campfire. Can't believe I'm up this early! I think I craved coffee. I didnt misbehave, so I'm fine, but tired.
How is everyone else spending the day? Hope it's sunny for you all, and for us today too, amof!
Enjoy the day!
