Rick was standing in the line up at Walmart last night, and overheard this young couple behind him talking about how they were going to stay at home for the new years eve celebration, and that hopefully next year will be better.... they had chips, pop and a movie to watch...... were obviously struggling finantially!
When it was his turn to pay, he turned around and told the couple that he would like to pay for their shopping items as well.....it came to around $15.00....not a lot to pay.....but they were very grateful.
We have been very fortunate to have saved thousands in the past few months, over $ 3000 this past December in absolutely free merchandise just to top it all off.
It has been a great year of free stuff for us!!
Paying it forward we like to share coupons, like most on SC also do.....
this was a surprise to me last night, as I was not with hiim, and he casually told me the story about this couple while we were driving to our nice new years eve dinner treat, something we have not done for the past few years........
it made me feel all warm and fuzzy about him!!This thread is currently associated with: Walmarthttp://www.facebook.com/groups/29636...6361680429066/

awww I love these posts! Never too many good news, sharing stories.
I was at home outfitters on friday to pick up some dolce gusto cups and I had the 20% off coupon. The cups are 8.99. The senior in front of me was purchasing some larger items so I offered it to him instead. The $1.80 it would have saved me was not worth near as much as the smile on his face when he saved over $20.

That was extremely kind of Rick (I'm assuming is your hubby)!
My husband was getting a Tim Horton's and a lady in front of the shop asked him for some change. He did not have any but he said that he'd get some after he pays inside. She said that the employees did not allow her to go inside so my husband bought her a coffee and muffin and said to the woman 'you can go inside and sit down now'.
I was not there but wished I was and speak to the employees of that shop. Now working on Christmas 2012 through SwagBucks.

side note - I have been amicabily seperated for the past 8 years, not divorced yet..and my husband would not do something like this, never would enter his head to think about it..lol!!http://www.facebook.com/groups/29636...6361680429066/

I have to say that this is the one side of couponing the way we do it, that really makes me feel good. Being able to help others, teach others, and share with others the good fortune it brings to our house.
My new roommate is struggling finantially, was ripped off by the person living where she was going to move into a month ago. On the spur of the moment, the night she became almost homeless, I offered for her to rent the spare room, as I need to increase my non existant income. Losing that money has set her back, and when ever I can offer her something that we have, I make sure to remind her.
Today she has to go to the doctor because of a wicked swelling and tooth infection.... was going to buy Advil, so I went down and got a spare box and gave it to her, reminding her to never buy Advil, as I have boxes of it downstairs..
I also took her to the freezer in the garage and told her to help herself to what ever she needs for food, just to let me know so that I can plan to replace it. In return she has been cooking meals for us..which is awesome, as we always forget to plan supper..lol!!http://www.facebook.com/groups/29636...6361680429066/

I was in Walmart yesterday using up the last of my 2011 coupons when there was a young mom behind me buying big boxes of diapers. I pulled out some Pampers coupons and handed them to her. She was suprised but very happy. It was nice to help out.
As well, I have a friend who is struggling financially. She lives a long distance away from me so whenever she is in town, I try to load her up with a big basket full of toiletries for her family. She is so happy and really I wouldn't use all the stuff in many years. My hubby was cleaning out the basement and wrote on my bin of stuff from couponing, "Free Stuff". It was kinda cute. I will be culling it soon for the foodbank.
Just joined Kiva.org, an organization that funds micro-loans to people in developing countries. I love the idea that the $25 I saved in groceries can be given to a fish woman with 5 children in the Philippines to help grow her business.

The building where I live is usually full of students. This couple a few doors from me are just the sweetest thing. They both struggle with school full time and has a part time job to pay for everything. They are very quiet and pay on time. It's his first time out of his Mom's house and often doesn't know what to do when it comes to simple household things.
Just as an example, I saw him coming in, a few months ago, with Raid cans that he just purchased. I asked him what was happening. He said he had fruit flies and that is what the clerk at the store recommended. I don't like when nice people get taken for a ride so I asked him to show that to me. Of course his girlfriend was out of town. He did take out the garbage but some garbage juice was left in the can. I told him to wash that with Javex and his fruit flies would just disappear AND to return the Raid can.
When I started couponing, I offered to take the girlfriend grocery shopping with me. She used to go on foot since they don't have a car and pay for delivery but would also go to a place where there is not much savings done. She was very happy about it.
She started picking up items and I would stop her, pointing her to something else. Like cheese... She took the one on special at 5.99. I told her to take the Black Diamond, who was 7.99 but was 4.97 at WM and I had coupons for it. While at the store, the BF wanted Pogo.. they were on special and I gave her a coupon for it.
Her budget was 100$, She ended up buying more items then she usually do (because of BF calling with his cravings) but spent only 75$ after rebates and coupons AND didn't have to pay for delivery.

I was in Cuba for Christmas vacation, and decided to bring along a lot of samples that I had gotten over the year, and leave them along with money as tip in two rooms we had booked. I think they were very much appreciated. It's amazing how many freebies I've gotten over the last year, and it was nice to be able to share them.

My kids went to their summer camp's Christmas party. On the invite it asked for donations of non-perishables for the Salvation Army.Rather than go into my food stash since i know everyone dontates food I filled a shopping bag with personal care items such as shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorants then threw in a whole bunch of my travel sizes freebies.
