@Giseledta so sorry about the bunny.

I wouldn't allow a snake either, my son badly wanted a corn one.
    Cats were good, though.

I agree with you about menopause, though mine was rather complicated, I feel for you. Have you talked recently with your gynecologist?

    Happy Monday everyone!

I am doing okay, it's so great to have my heart back doing what it should.
Had a check-up yesterday, all my vitals are good. However, my mobility is way worse than it was even a few weeks ago, so I hope and pray that gets better.

I am doing my best, but it has to be soooo slooowly done. I get frustrated easily because I am stubborn and impatient and I want things better now! (Ok, now you know more about me!)

    Take care everyone!

I thought that I was out of chicken, but I found 3 freezer bags of chicken thighs that I bought this summer.
Tonight’s supper plan: baked chicken thighs, mashed red potatoes, steamed fresh broccoli, tossed salad.
Tuesday lunch: leftover chicken thighs, pasta, carrot sticks or boiled mixed veggies.
Tuesday supper: shepherd’s pie, made with leftover mashed potatoes.
    Wednesday lunch: leftover shepherd’s pie.
Wednesday supper: bacon, home made waffles, fresh fruit.

    Good Afternoon Everyone,
I have been MIA for a few days as not even 30 minutes after I posted Thursday morning I received a phone call from my Step Mom that my Oma (Grandmother) had passed the night before. I am not sure I have shared much about my Oma as honestly the past few years have not been kind to her. I believe it was back in my early teens she got Shingles behind her eyes, due to it being behind her eyes they never cleared up. In my mid teens she was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Then the Alzheimer came. My brother and his gf have been together 5 year and as long as his gf has been with him Oma has not recognized any of us and was very close to bed bound. Her caregivers (3 wonderful women who live with Oma & Opa and take care of both of them) did everything to try to keep her mobile but it was a losing battle. With these being said our whole family is so grateful as we have been told without them we would have lost her years ago but there care had kept her with us.

Labour Day weekend we celebrated her 90th Birthday party as a family. I do believe this was a blessing as the whole family was able to see her one last time as I will be honest it was difficult to see and most of did not visit as often as we should have.

The family as a whole is filled with mixed emotions, we have a sense of relief that we now know she is no longer in pain and is with Uncle (her son who passed as a teenager 50 years ago) but at the same time she is no longer here. Although she was no longer Oma there was a sense of comfort that if you ever needed to talk she was in her room.

Since we found out it has been a whirlwind of things going on. My Dad had decided we were still attend the Gala Thursday night which is weird they called it a Gala as it was actually an Award Ceremony for local businesses. Our company was nominated and won. It was hard as none of was wanted to get dressed up and go but at the same time it was a nice distraction and it meant a good part of the family spent the night together.

Thursday was a hard day as our initial intention was not to tell anyone at work yet as we did not know who knew and didn't know within the family. A family friend who works for the company had found out and took it upon themselves to let everyone know even after I asked them to please not say anything. Before I knew it my whole location knew and I will be honest I was pissed.

Friday was no better as this was when the funeral arrangements came out and the email was not clear if it was a public or private service so again our intention was to say nothing. But again the same family friend found out and told everyone so my office became a revolving door of people coming in and calling asking if they could attend and I did not know the answer as my Opa had initially said only those who attended her birthday party at the funeral. Luckily later in the afternoon my Dad sent an email letting the whole company know what had happened along with the arrangements.

Friday night we did Pizza at bro's house for anyone who wanted to come as my cousin and his family were in town. Saturday the girls (myself, my cousin's wife and bro's gf) arranged to do baking for the viewing. I believe it is because a number of staff were coming to the viewing as not everyone could take Monday off the funeral they wanted to have trays for people to have a snack and a coffee if they wished. I think in total we made like 10 different items. Well we did the bro and cousin went suite shopping with Opa. As well Sis decided to come down and hang out with us and we did a big pasta dinner for anyone who wanted to come.

Sunday we had the viewing and yesterday was another viewing the funeral.

I have to admit I am emotionally and physically drained so I have opted to work from home. I think I need sometime for me but am still keeping on top of my work stuff, due to running a family business we cannot all be off. Although we will be off again Friday as on Friday we will bury her Ashes with my Uncle.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I did a quick stop at Sobeys this evening.
    $2.49 6pk bund on sale - $1 sticker coupon
2x $6.29 kids vitamins that are best by Dec 31 - regular price is $12.xx

I sold large jars of pickled beets and some squash to a lady for a total of $40 today. Another couple people want the smaller jars of pickled beets that I have up for sale, supposed to be picked up tomorrow. I kept 5 small jars of pickled beets for myself and any guests who enjoy them.

I was off yesterday. Mid afternoon I started cooking. I made chicken souvlaki, also cooked up 4 extra chicken breasts cut in chunks, pasta, rice, 1/4 bag of fries, 1 burger pattie, 2 strips of bacon. (was cleaning out the fridge of this and that) Made the plates/lunches and put the rest in containers in fridge. It was all gone this morning but a little rice. For DS's lunch today I made him pasta with shredded cheese, chicken and bacon.
Today I have a roast beef in the crockpot. Will make mashed potatoes with gravy and veggie as soon as I get in the door.
I put a load of laundry in the washer this morning and one in the dryer. It's the only way not to be overwhelmed. I will continue on the laundry when the potatoes are boiling.
Tonight I am going to toss the bits of this and that from the freezer in the kitchen (bottom of fridge) Then see what I have to use up and plan tomorrow nights meal with that. Maybe French toast with bacon etc to use up the bread in freezer.
I pulled a new frying pan out to use. I love it. My usual one is so warped (bad habit of putting in dishwasher once it got older!) I see I have a few new cutting boards tucked away too. (good large wood ones) But don't need them now since I have 2 now I am using and they are in good shape still.

    Have a great day everyone!

I think I have a new plan for DS's school lunch on days I meet him at the arena before he heads back to school. Leftovers that I heat up at work for him and bring piping hot! This will make lunch packing so much easier for me and save $ etc. He was happy with his hot lunch today and I tasted it and am drooling lol. I really want pasta now haha.

Good morning all for the last several days I have been making food for people on my floor either fish and home made tartar sauce, or baked chicken legs with shrimp mr noodles combo vegetables and cream cheese. Then the left over chicken I made home made chicken noodle soup. Then it’s bacon something for today.

I went to Walmart first thing and bought lots of goodies. Spent a heck of a lot of money though. I would have to go back upstairs and read the receipt to remember what I got.

Oh, @Giseledta -the loss of the pet rabbit not so long after your own parent passing is your grief speaking. The offspring asking for another pet so soon-well, that means a discussion is in order about reasonable requests and grief. Hugs to you.

Dear @SassyAshley -you have in the past briefly mentioned that your Oma was not in the best health but sometimes you saw her with Opa, but Opa I think is more mobile? It was wonderful that you and the other women were able to give of your time to provide baking for the viewing. That family friend needs a private talking to-is that individual going to make amends or is it possible to keep that friend unaware of future family news? I'd suggest the possibility of raising the notion that since the individual did not respect a request not to share the news, it might land on their human resources file as a strike against them. Hugs to you.

Yesterday I was cleaning the exterior of the space-usurping Keurig machine when it occurred to me to figure out how to use it. Basically, if I inserted the pod into the device before it's plugged in and even stating"ready", machine does not take notice there's a pod inserted when it does its "not ready" cycle. Spent 5 minutes on the useless menu, trying to push the middle cup size option, to get the machine to work. Realized I probably have to take the pod out, then put it back in, and eureka, I was ready to press a cup button to get an expired coffee pod to brew.
Today I went to the coffee store where single pods can be bought by variety pack mix and match. I'll get 12 pods (some coffees, some hot cocoas) to have on hand when the flying guest comes to town. We have bagged tea so I won't buy tea pods (and I've been keen to try a hot chocolate pod for years and I'll have the chance soon). I made a small batch of rice pudding, making sure not to evaporate all of the milk so the pudding seemed creamy rather than dry. Did an errand for Mom last night before visiting the library to get Internet time.

Spent time yesterday with best friend (rare chance to visit in person). Today I spent lunchtime with a cousin. Got two Monopoly stickers on my burger box and found eight more on various packages on my walk!

Mom has a grocery list started. Not sure if brother took her out to shop in the afternoon. Will see if I have to do a store visit later as fridge is looking very close to empty but a few pantry staples exist in the manner of pantry surprise--something can be thrown together for a meal.

Discovered why Dad is not wearing the cardigan (after one day) from Mom. Supposedly he cannot put the buttons through the buttonholes. Not thrilled to hear that is the reason he's wearing pullover sweaters. It'd be hard to sew on self-fastening patches but there are large snaps I can sew on and I will (not wanting a good clothing purchase to be sidelined!). I did visit Value Village this afternoon following lunch. Someone purchased the woollen long coat (good find) and I saw a new to me bubblegum pink Wind River ski jacket but it has a zipper/self-fastening tape system, not snaps with a cover over the zipper like my current red coat does. Was shocked at the $24.99 price tag. Noticed in-store promotion-get a 20% off coupon (valid in November on purchase up to $25) when you buy $30 or more in apparel in the last half of October.

With the clock change approaching on November 3, I'm keen to wrangle any remaining outdoor tasks prior to that date and then basically ignore the outdoors except the need for a branch pickup or snow clearing. Have to keep a bungee cord on the green cart-the raccoons got into it yesterday and I did not know Mom had put a bag into the cart last night. Saw the mess this morning and left it until afternoon.
