@lilo0003 That is one thing I have to say I am surprised about in Ontario is they are not addressing those 18 and under at all. Everything is about those 18+

One restriction being lifted for Montreal & Laval. Curfew is now at 9:30 PM instead of 8PM. Our Covid count for yesterday was below 800 which is good considering what is happing in the rest of Canada.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to plan an 18th birthday party around Covid restrictions. We all live in the Red Zone so travelling from zone to zone is not a problem. We are thinking of doing a celebration at the park which has picnic tables spaced out. We are 3 families, 10 people in total. We can be physically distanced, etc but together. And by then all the adults will be vaccinated at least once. And a lot depends on the weather which can be unpredictable the end of May.

Prem Legault said yesterday that if things continue the way they are right now, soon Red Zones may be downgraded to Orange Zones and Restaurants will reopen for indoor dining. Thats the most encouraging thing ive heard in a while. Also that Health Canada has approved the Pfizer vaccine for kids 12-16. That is fantastic! QC has been below the 800 daily count of infections for a while now. Hopefully this continues and we can get back to some sort of almost normal soon.
I also heard that kids 12-16 in QC will probably get their first vaccine of Pfizer before the end of school year which is June 23rd and second dose to be administered before the next school year which officially starts end of Aug beginning of Sept.
In my town, the Govt has rented the Centre Des Aines (Old Age Center) until Dec 31st and vaccines will be available to all that want it.

I am encouraged that more people are getting vaccinated but still concerned for those in the hot zones who are still not vaccinated.
Always remember the What are you thankful for today? thread as there always is something to be thankful for.

Horrible statistics in the paper yesterday. among G20 countries, Alberta (as a province alone) is #2 in the list for COVID-19 infections per 1000000 people, second only to Argentina!
Canada as a whole is down the list

Unofficial reports are now saying that Ontario's Stay-At-Home order will be extended until June 2nd.
Personally, I am not surprised our numbers really are not going down. We had two days this week we dropped to the 2000s but then back up into the 3000s. Considering in that past they have always said we need to be 1000s to come out of previous Lockdowns and Stay-At-Home orders we still have a ways to go.
They are also now saying by the end of May any 18+ who wants a vaccine in Ontario will be able to book an appointment. I hope this happens but we will see what happens. It already looks like the last phase has not gone well with many who are now eligible not able to get appointments and even when they do a number are being turned away due to confusion.
Also heard on the news that my areas consistently has the 3rd highest rate for Covid infections but when it comes to vaccine being allocated within Ontario we are 9th on the list to have vaccines allocated to our areas.
Hoping we finally get control of this soon. Although with new variants and unclear information on how long the vaccines last not sure what our new normal will look like.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Yes Alberta has crazy high numbers right now. DD and BF are now eligible in BC for vaccines as restaurant workers-thank goodness.

Has anyone been offered a different site for injection, such as the thigh?

I would be surprised if any of the injection sites offer alternatives like a smorgasbord. They have enough work to get through without offering multiple alternatives I would think. If you want an alternate site you have to ensure you ask for it during the appointment process.

Here is an article discussing why some may want the injection in the thigh. Obviously very very specific cases.

My son was telling me that his daughter who is 15 said she heard that vaccinations may be starting in her high school soon but no definite date. Also parents will have to sign a consent form. In QC vaccinations will be available to 12-17 year olds. Logistics are still being worked out but information on this will be available to parents soon. School year ends around June 23 or a bit earlier depending on the schools.
Infections in QC have risen a bit to just over 900 the past few days. This may affect the relaxing of certain measures. Even though i would love to have some relaxing of measures, i worry that it may be too soon.Last edited by SnowFlakey; Sat, May 8th, 2021 at 03:30 PM.

Good for her!
She should have taken a step further to remind everyone who was invited that they can still be as contagious as heck, even after immunization. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

in BC some areas are seeing numbers going down, the age groups for vaccinations are dropping steadily (on tuesday anyone 40+ can book an appointment) i'm hearing that they are looking into hopefully vaccinating all youth (12 and over) before the end of the school year, which would be great!... vaccinate at the end of the current school year then do a follow up sometime after start of the following school year
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....
