I heard on the radio the other day that Sobey's will be making a change to rewards system. In 2023 they will be phasing out Air Miles and replacing it with Scene+

Morning! Nice sunny start to the day.
I canceled my vacation day today. Just too much to do. But will get through it and then still enjoy a 4 day weekend (will enjoy it even more know this stuff is done ) And then I will have an extra vacation day to look forward to down the road.
Kitchen is clean. Leftovers in the fridge for lunch. I am set!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I think I need a few more airmiles to hit $10. I really don't use it anywhere but Foodland (which I rarely shop at). Hoping for a GC with bonus airmiles offer soon? Maybe Foodland is getting rid of it too??
I have a Scene Visa that I signed up for basically for the Scene bonus pts. I have just over $50 in SCENE rewards so I should redeem the points at Kelsey's soon!Last edited by Frugalbigmama; Fri, Jun 10th, 2022 at 09:55 AM.

@Frugalbigmama , I was wondering about Foodland as I cannot see that they will keep Air Miles if Sobey's is not, but they are not mentioned. But with that being said when they said 2023 there is a lot of time for more details to come out.
I have a scene debit card, only issue is I never use my debit card anymore.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Thanks @SassyAshley for mentioning the Air Miles program drop by Sobeys later this year and the switch to Scene+! I found out from my friend yesterday. I posted a link in the Finance thread, as we have SCers who do well with Air Miles at Sobeys so this change will impact their points collection/redemption.

Good Morning Everyone,
Oh my gosh, what a week. It has been a go-go-go kind of week.
Tuesday morning I helped the manager who is short staffed, Tuesday afternoon I met with out new Financial Specialist (the standard welcome to company, a quick bio on me and yes, I can do almost every job within the company so when you have a question just give me a call) and finished the after back with the manager who is short staffed.
Wednesday morning with the manager who is short staff, Wednesday afternoon working with a new staff member who is still in training, then back to finish the after with the short staffed manager.
Yesterday I did an out of town day trip, those days are always long as about 5 to 6 hours of my day are spent in my car. I left just before 6 am and got home just before 6 pm.
I have learned long car drives alone when your anxiety is spiking is not a good thing. Sometimes I love these long drives as I get my best thinking done and come up with plans and just have to get it on paper. Yesterday, nope I just started spinning and spinning and spinning. But I did find switching over and listening to a podcast vs the radio helped as it diverted my attention, I paid more attention to the podcast than I do the radio which brought me out of my head.
Today is a work from home try to catch up on all the things I did not get done all week. This is the downfall to these types of week, my own job suffers as I am so busy doing other things, that things I cannot get done quickly get pushed off. But I am knocking things off the do list which makes me happy.
I really need to go to Costco but right now, I am not sure when I can fit that into my schedule right now. Work is so insane right now and there is so much to get done at home, I feel like I am just going in circles.
The good news is I do not see much on sale we need just some fresh stuff and we have enough on hand to get through the weekend so I will probably just run into No Frills one night next week after work for the few things we need.
Happy Friday Everyone.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

I did something I never do today. Normally when I get up I always put my sweats on so I am ready for the day. Today I stayed in my PJs, originally I was going to have a cup of tea and then shower. But instead I am in my PJs curled up in a blanket doing all of the work things and am on my third cup of tea.
Tonight's dinner will be homemade pizza, it feels like a pizza kind of Friday. Thinking pizza and relax on the couch catching up on all my shows on PVR, I am so far behind, so many season finales I have not seen yet.
Been talking to Mom trying to get things moving in the house and the official call is, do not paint the hallways right now. We will clear out the corner, build the bookshelf and paint probably in the fall. I know it is kind of backwards but at this point colours we dislike on the wall are not high priority but having a functioning house is.
It also helps we are having a community garage sale and Mom signed us up to participate so we need to find and organize everything to sell. So we need to get moving. I am ready to dive in head first.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

Happy Saturday Everyone,
I toyed with the idea of going to Costco this morning just to get it done and not have to think about it, it would be done. But I also knew if I did go to Costco it would really reduce what I would get done around the house today. Since Costco does not open until 9, I would not get back until probably somewhere between 10:30 and 11. So now I am thinking maybe one night after work I might run to Costco.
Instead I went to Wal-Mart right at 7 am and it was nice, the store was empty and I could just slowly take my time, look at stuff and it felt like I had the place to myself. I went for new insoles for my shoes, I am really struggling with my plantar fasciitis, I got:
2 x Insoles $15.97 on sale (these are expensive but it is one of those things, if you need them, you need them)
1 x Toothbrush Heads 2-pack $9.97 (I keep forgetting to grab these, finally remembered)
1 x Shoes for me $29 (I do not need new shoes right now but these ones stood out to me so I tried them on, on my so comfy so now I have a back-up)
2 x Slippers for Mom $9 on Clearance (one is a summer pair, lighter, open and one is what I call a winter pair more closed in warmer, normally I would not buy winter slippers in June but we have had some cold nights and I grabbed her winter slippers the other night and they are falling apart)
2 x Limes $0.77
5 x Tomatoes on the Vine $0.94/lb
1 x Cinnamon Buns 8-pack Clearance $4.50 (thought it would be a nice breakfast treat)
I bought way more than I had planned, I went for insoles, tomatoes and limes but happy with the other things I got. Could not pass up the clearance slippers, hoping Mom likes them. Normally it is so hard for me to find shoes, I have wide feet and these were not labelled wide but are so comfortable.
Now it is time to tackle the house, so much to get done it almost makes me head spin but we got this, one thing at a time.
Need to figure out dinner, think some sort of balsamic chicken, but we shall see.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

@coupongirl I gave up looking at my SDM offers because they only send me the $70 or $90 one. I am currently on a mission to use what’s on hand an I think it will be a year before I need anything. So I can never get close to the minimum spend. I will buy some more men’s bodywash and shampoo at the young son is moving to residence in the fall.
For those that buy coffee in McDonald’s they removed the stickers in Northern Ontario last fall and now it’s coming south. I don’t buy it often but I did like the extra freebie. I have at least 10 cards to use but they are accepting the cards until late 2023.Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

So it’s been a busy week +.
I had some clients go on vacation so Dh and I decided to take a few days off and decompress. Since we’re not comfortable really travelling we did some days trips. It was so much fun to play tourist in your own area. We decided to splurge and have a few meals (to go) from our fave places in the city, we picked up some treats to take home for later too.
We went to Richmond and walked the jetty (8km RT)
Piña colada non dairy soft serve
Wine and cheeze at home (Dh bought me my fave peonies)
Whistler BC
Whistler welcome bear
Pemberton BC ( the best cafe for lunch)

While we spent more than we normally would on days off we also saved big $$$$ by not going to hotels or by air. Whistler is anywhere from $500-800 a night! so we chose to supply local small businesses and get out in nature. It is where I feel I can finally completely relax and let go. Any anxiety I have is left behind. We still ended up spending waaaaaay less than if we had gone on a real vacay plus Dh just used some banked days so he still has his vacation days to use.
He received GCs so we have been using those for groceries and it should get us a months worth (depending on inflation ) so we could finally get our air purifier! Yay! I’m like a kid in a candy store with it. It’s been a loooooong time coming and I’m looking forward to not suffering from allergies as much and just overall dust.
So today I’m just going to catch up on laundry and going to vac dust the place to help with air purifier, oh ya and pay off the weekly CC too.
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend wherever you are
