We had a wicked rain and windstorm last night. I don’t remember having it that bad in a while. We thankfully didn’t lose power but it was VERY close to it a couple of times.

My sleep was horrible due to the insane winds so off to Starbucks( redeeming stars for a freebie) this morning before we went to a veg stand. Lots of people were out of power so of course it was packed!

Dh and I hit up NF.

Managed to grab just over $70 in stuff including a 20lb bag of potatoes for $7( being split with my parents).

Used PCO points and paid 50c something OOP which was on the GC.

Purchased Cheeze it crackers for $2.75. 1000/ points and $2.00 on CO51. Did it 2 times and both will be donated. I need a $2 more on Dh’s CO51 to be able to checkout. I’m waiting to see how high mine can get.

Oh, looks like you bought the 540mL cans. (Are they still 540mL?)
I buy the 4-pound bags of dry beans.

How do you compare the value of the different measurements? I weighed a can of 540mL beans, once, and thought it was a little over 1-pound. I know that includes the weight of the liquid and can. So, I just give a rough guess that 540mL is about the same as a pound of dry beans. Do you compare differently? I prefer the dry, because they are easier to store and I know exactly the weight I get and use; there's no way to fudge things with water or other additives.

If you are in the BC area, you need to check out Fruiticana. They always have legumes like lentils and chick peas for $1/pound or less. Lentils are now 78 cents/pound. Their prices are often long-term staples. Their prices will fluctuate a bit, but are pretty stable. Some stores will place limits on number of bags allowed.

@HermanH I do buy mostly cans except for lentils. Those I have dried. The problem I personally have is time and storage. I’m self employed and beyond crazy busy so time to soak and cook beans is very limited vs coming home from work and opening a can or two to make a meal is worth it to me. Also I don’t have enough storage space for more appliances like an instant pot and our current freezer is such a stupid layout that it doesn’t leave a lot of room for me to freeze and store beans along with the other veggies and fruit we use. I’m not going to buy another fridge…….yet anyways.

    Good Morning Everyone,
I had three things I wanted to get done yesterday to try to get the house back on track:
The bathroom needed to be cleaned - Done

The area in front of our back door had become a bit of a dumping ground for various thing that needed to be put away or repackaged so that needed to be cleaned up - Done

The floors on the main floor needed to be cleaned, vacuumed and mopped - Done

Then I gave and decided it was time to turn the heat on, our house was so cold yesterday. So we moved all the furniture and cleaned the rads. Let me tell you my back is letting me know today it did not appreachiate all the furniture moving but on the flip side happy to have it done.

Also, as we were moving what we call the drawer thing in our Dinning Room to clean the rad we have now decided once we get the Dinning Room done how we want to rearrange the furniture.

There is still quite a bit of work to be done in the Dinning Room to get it organized but I was able to make a path to the Slow Cookers so we can start using those again. Now I need to come up with a Meal Plan for the week.

Last night I made Baked Sausages with Mashed Potato Bake and Savoury Roasted Burssel Sprouts. We had some leftover Mashed Potatoes to use up.

Tonight, I am thinking Homemade Pizza, but will see how Mom feels when she gets up.

Trying to find my ambition to knock out some things today.

    Happy Sunday Everyone.

Slowly knocking things off the to-do list.

Fridge has been cleaned out, no real food waste just some gravy we did not eat.

Took out the garbage and some other random things we found yesterday when we were in the dining room that needed to go out.

Our recycling desperately need to go out but for some reason our recycling was not picked up last week so there are no empty bins.

I forgot to wash our microfibre cloths last month, I normally do them when I wash all the bedding but they got missed and we were running low so in they went.

I also cleaned the rad in the basement so we could turn it on. It is in the room that was infested with wasps so I wanted to make sure it was vacuumed out well just in case and I did find 3 in the rad.

We processed the 3 packages of chicken breasts yesterday, so those were in the chest freezer, freezing flat so they go in the bin nicely. They were frozen so I put them in the Chicken bin.

I dug out some Triple Berry Mix from the freezer and made a Triple Berry Ricotta Loaf. It made two so I will take some into work later this week.

Dinner was homemade pizza, OH MY so good, I have been craving pizza for over a week and it did not disappoint.

I wrote a meal plan for the week, I am excited I have some classics and some new recipes to try. Now we just need to stay on track.

I did not really "prep" this weekend. I did not make bread or anything as planned. I am working from home tomorrow so I might make a batch of rice tomorrow well I am working.

Doing the same, here. Made a large pot of stew with all manner of knick-knacks and leftovers including pork, black chicken, white chicken, scallops, white winter snow fungus, black fungus, pork liver, lamb, frog legs, bacon, sheets of bean curd, and all manner of assorted beans and stuff I can't even recognize. Looks like a mess, but it tastes fine.

Rescued 8 boxes of pudding, 2 boxes of bread mix, a box of cake mix, bag of graham crumbs, can of pineapple, and two Knorr bags of soup [all dated 2017-18] from the dump.

DS2 took my vehicle to work today. I could have drove the other sons car but decided for a no spend day. I walked to the library to pick up “1883” because I refuse to pay for another streaming service.
I was really happy earlier in the week after ordered new filters my my Dyson V10 that has not worked for ages. Well the filter did not help so I started mucking around and realized it was plugged further up with a dog biscuit. Ugh. I have not had it working for over a year. I am glad I decided to take another look.

Good Morning! The sun is shining but I'm sure it is chilly out.

Saturday was a stick close to home day. Got some things done. Not much shopping.
Sunday- Had something I needed to pick up at my sister's so decided to go to the casino on the way to use free slot play offer (Left with $$$) and used soon to expire food points to bring home food (Seafood pasta/Shrimp rice/veggies/burgers/salad and 2 roast beef sandwiches for DS to take to work for lunch)
So the fridge is stuffed and those are the meals for today/tomorrow. So no cooking today.

Made my coffee and just enjoying that now till I dive into work. Thinking an egg on a toasted English muffin this morning. Yum.

    Have a great day!
