I never find any coupons except what I get online or what I get from trades. Either we have an extreme number of couponers in Winnipeg, or we have more than a few that are just blatantly greedy and take the whole darn tearpad. I do trains to try and get a variety of coupons. But didn't really get anything from the last couple (except for the first VWT I did, but those are difficult!)...I think I may just stop altogether and just start trading stamps for coupons again.

Is it just me because I don't see the appeal of a train. You have to spend an X amount in stamps to mail out, not guarantee that you will get the coupons you want, put in useful coupons in envie, and in the end, you either break even or more out of pocket.

Aren't trades better? At least you get exactly what you want on both sides.

@couponmummy: you don't have to put in any coupons if you don't see anything you like in the train. I am assuming if someone takes a coupon out, it is more "useful" to him/her than the one being put back in? I'm not saying a crap coupon should be put as a replacement, but you get my drift!

I like the occasional traditional train because I get to see coupons I may not even know exist. I can also take coupons to expand my "trading" stash, since generally, when we do one-on-one trades, we are only getting WL coupons, so sometimes the trade pile can become sparse. JMO

I was the next rider in line- I did not accuse anyone of anything. I simply stated in the thread that there were coupons on the train that should not be in there, that were against the train rules, when I received it. I made no personal comments about any riders, I didn't threaten negative ratings. I simply stated what was in tthere as requested by the conductor.

mrsfeeman I think your initial strong defensive reaction in the thread (which has now been edited) made this whole situation worse. A simple oops I'm sorry would have been enough. Bringing it here hasn't made the situation any better. Time to move on...

    Let's try this scenario.

I want this coupon but I'm close to end of train. So someone before me takes the coupon and I don't get what I want. Do riders respect other's WL or is it a free for all?

Most trad trains don't have riders WLs. You are only choosing from the coupons in the envie when it arrives to you, no one would know or be expected to leave certain coupons for you (unless this was a twist within the train rules from the beginning).

Thanks, MiaowTheCat, for clearing this up. Being on a train can be so complicated, LOL.

time to move on? that was 2 days ago erinsmom. the threat of negative feedback has nothing to do with you, it has to do with the conductor. it doesnt say you accused , it says "claimed" which you did. i also admitted they might be from me, and offered to do whatever i could to make it up. have i been defensive? of course i have! its my trade rating and reputation on the line. everybody makes mistakes!! my problem is how i am being treated over this whole situation. the only thing i was upset about with you was that you posted in the thread, which is your right. personally i wouldn't do that to someone, but thats just me. if you people want me to get over it, quit attacking me!!! by the way, the only editing i did in that thread, was change "the conductor said to contact her not to PM, to the conductor said to PM her not post in thread. it was a miswording on my part as i was upset when i wrote it! if its time for me to move on that goes double for you lady!!

i havent had much luck with these trains. the first few were great when i was building a collection. they are prob. also great for those who live in rural areas, and cant always get the new tearpads. yes, its a free for all, the first rider can take all the good coupons if they want, and generally replace dollar for dollar. i have lost money on most of these types of trains. again, thats just my personal experience.
