I would never buy any type of "food" at a 7-11 - only thing I get there is there slushies.
I just find it weird that a convenience store sells food ew!

No, not from a machine!
Years ago, one of the hospitals here had french fries from a vending machine - tried them and they were just awful!
Vee - we have several locations of 7-Eleven which have AWESOME food they cook in-store - chicken pieces, amazing chicken wings (lots of flavours), wicked fries, and great potato wedges.

I don't think I would buy any prepared food from a 7-11 other than a beverage. Spent too many times as a very young adult barfing up toquitos the day after a drunken night out with friends. I will pass, thank you!!

Gross. No thanks.
Where I come from, mashed potatoes shouldn't be able to pass through a tube."Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

They're a little thin and I'm not really fond of liquid mashed potatoes, but it seriously just looks like potato flakes and hot water, with from-a-packet gravy on top. AKA, the same instant potatoes you probably make for your family, albeit a bit watery. It's a pretty good first attempt at making a self-serve mashed potato stand.
Not sure why everyone is so worried about food made in a convenience store. The prepackaged stuff shipped in, perhaps. Their weird little styrofoam trays of 'fresh' veggies never look fresh to me. But hot food like hotdogs and taquitos? Have you never purchased a hotdog from a vendor, or eaten at a fair? How about had the "plastic cheese of death" on some nachos, perhaps at a gas station or the movies? The employees who handle food have foodsafe. It's treated just as seriously and with the same standards as a fast food place or sit-down restaurant.
There is really nothing to be scared of. There are some food vending options that are just downright awful, like the french fries mentioned by somebody else. But for everything else, it's cooked properly and kept at a safe temperature while waiting for somebody to purchase it.

I didn't even know there were places where they make the food in store! I live in Calgary so there is a place where they make all the food. I have a friend who works for a refrigeration company, he goes to all kind of restaurants, he said he went to the 711 place and it was like the most sterile kitchen ever. So at least that's one good thing about 7-11 food. And about the machines, I don't get nachos there but I have taken advantage of the free chili and cheese on my hotdogs... but who hasn't, really!

As least it's not a poutine.
Whatever that machine oozed is NOT mashed potatoes. Warning: stay away from it.
