got a call at supper...
An old man (90 years-old) in my area was having too many tomatoes for him. He already canned his 100 liters and was disesperate to found a good home for his tomatoes. My cousin put me in touch with him and now I have 3 Loblaws plastic green bin full of tomatoes smelling full sun sitting in my kitchen.
I love that kind of freebies. I love them for all the human contact beside those.
The old man was so kind. He was knowing my grand-father and talk of him with me. He "thanks' me many time to do good use of his precious garden tomatoes. It was a wonderfull moment. This thread is currently associated with: LoblawsLiberty of one finish where liberty of the other one start

Patty, this old man was so proud and happy to share with someone able to made good use of his tomatoes.
The expression on his face stay in my head.
And I'm sure many old people like him would love to share with younger people, but we just don't know it or need to be put in touch in some way.Liberty of one finish where liberty of the other one start

How wonderful of him to share! And it's lovely that he can share stories of your grandfather with you!
We have a lovely elderly man living right across the street from us - he will sometimes come over with extra garden produce people have given him, it's very sweet. In return, we help him with things around his house and yard once in a while.
He's great to talk with, lots of stories, he's very active and interesting.

600 lb. of tomatoes processed! That's wonderful. What a lovely neighbourhood you live in that people share - stories as well as produce! I have 3 tiny grape tomato plants - I've largely ignored them - but we have managed to eat about 20 tomatoes. We aren't supposed to see frost for a while, I don't think. Enjoy your "bounty"!
