I was just reading that. It's crazy. I can't recall any recent Hurricanes that caused as much damage as this one has before it even made landfall.

And with numbers like that it's going to take a while to reconnect everyone - and they can't even start for at least a couple of days. Oy, glad I'm not there.

What has me worried for our area here is that I was just reading the following:

National Weather Service meteorologists eyeballing Hurricane Sandy now are looking at a 21-hour window of mayhem for all of Western New York, with strong winds and saturated ground combining to topple trees, block roadways and take out power lines.

I'm right at the Niagara Falls, NY border and if they are going to get hit for a 21 hr period, we probably will as well.

And with numbers like that it's going to take a while to reconnect everyone - and they can't even start for at least a couple of days. Oy, glad I'm not there.

It's going to take a long while to clean up the coast that's for sure. I can't help but feel uneasy about this one for all of the people on the coast.

Wow. The Weather Network is saying that 1.5 Million are without power in the United States and 10,000 are without power in Ontario.

That's good. We are getting gusts of 68km but it seems like it's roaring outside the window. I heard a woman in Toronto was killed when a metal piece of a sign blew off and struck her. So sad, and a reminder that if you don't have to be outside in this weather, STAY IN!

There is pretty much nothing going on here at all, even though they called for winds at 80km/h. It's not raining, it's a tad chilly, and the highest the gusts have been are 44km/h; I told SO that I could generate more wind than that with my arse.

Thanks love, it's not too bad. One corner of our basement seems to get leaky when the walls and floor meet. Luckily it's unfinished down there so no damage. Oh the joys of home ownership.
