So I decided that I would do a good deed at least every month? If possible. My first good deed for the month of april is donating my used grad dress along with my sister's for girls who can't afford it (Scarborough town center was collecting for a charity). Its hard to believe that I bought that dress years (almost decade) ago and still had it ( I took very good care of it ..then realized what for? I'm never going to wear it again ) so decided that it would be better if someone else wore it or out of my hands into someone that could wear it at another time in their life .

I guess this started from my crazy obsession with hoarding a stockpile under the pretense that it was to be donated ( still in the process) , this is what I can do while not going broke (i have no job) and still feel good about it.

I wish I was collecting them from my other friends aswell , I know they would have gladly given theirs without hesitation but I just didnt get the time to go around and collect them Next Year then

    Wonderful deed!

I was guilty of hanging onto a dress I'd never wear either. I donated it as well! Yay for spring cleaning!

I actually have a question aswell, my bf has BAGS of used mens clothes . I know it can be donated but I'm not sure where to take it . There is goodwill? That is a store? that gives the clothes to the needy? or sells it... I dont want to put it in those blue boxes outside labelled donation because my area isn't THAT safe ... I'm sure I've seen burned up boxes with whatever was inside yanked out and thrown around.... id rather put it in safer hands knowing its going to PEOPLE than be garbagio

goodwill and salvation army are stores, but donating to them at least their charities truly benefit from the proceeds, unlike "value" village

Value Village support Diabetes Association of Canadian, so you can drop your clothes off there and still feel good about it. Better yet, Diabetes Association will pick up clothes from your house directly, if you call and arrange an appointment. This is a great option for those with young children or injuries that makes it a little more difficult to get out the door for errands.

And may I add, congrats on your dress donation!

Value village is overpriced. way too overpriced. If they want to support charity they need to sell more merchandise. i;d go with sally ann or goodwill

haha also guilty of hanging on to my grade 8 graduation dress and taking such care of it. Eventually realised why for? I've grown into a woman and it won't fit anymore (chest and hips) so I as well gave it to a dress donation place for girls that cannot afford dresses for their graduations.

Good job on the good deed!

What wonderful donations! Two girls will be so happy at their prom this year.

The prom really is a significant event in a girl's life. I have a close friend who didn't attend her high school prom because her parents couldn't afford to buy her a dress. Almost 40 years later, she still talks about missing her prom.
