DEVELOPING: North Korea missile launchpad moved into firing attitude
United States and South Korean armed forces placed at maximum alert' Watchcon 2
I think I'm a bit too obsessed with this. Especially since I'm the only one in this thread right now. Essentially I'm talking to myself. That can't be healthy lol But we are getting a HUGE ice storm that's already started to hit here and if our power goes out and I have no Internet or TV to check in to see what is happening in the North I'm going to be really lost!Last edited by TaraF; Wed, Apr 10th, 2013 at 10:16 PM.

I'm following this situation too.
Personally I believe the North Korean leadership are bluffing since a nuclear weapon can only be used once but the threat can be re-used many times..
The US right-wing blogsphere are being very vocal about it being President Obama's fault since it's covering up whatever nefarious scheme he's cooked up this week for turning the US into a black/Muslim/communist/gun-free/healthcare-for-all utopia or something..
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

hey tara - as always it is a lot of crap from north korea.
they have no way to do anything to anyone ---
the poor people there live their lives whilst brainwashed.
the dingbats that are in charge won't because they can't.
odd they bother as their news would never show anywhere
outisde north korea. dingbats, we should be worried ?
NOPE

Nothing so far so we're off to South Korea this afternoon transiting in Vancouver. We arrive in Seoul at 6pm on Monday. Hopefully things would have calmed down a bit as the birthday of Kim Jong Il will be nearly over.
I hope he doesn't plan on lighting a special candle for Seoul on that day!

Japan must be really shaken at the thought though. The other day they prematurely tweeted that North Korea had launched a missile, and the newest being that Japan issued a false missile alarm instead of quake alert when the quake hit.
I hope you have a great time Jina!

Still have some friends living in South Korea, they aren't too worried. Kim Jung Un appears as deluded as his dear 'ol dad but the consequences would be so severe if they tried. China used to have their back in the old days but China has changed and definitely want to distance themselves from North Korea. Am wondering about lekate though, is she still there? I'm not around SC much anymore and don't see her around.

Dee09 I was wondering about lekate too. I hope she pops in just to let us know her nerves aren't too rattled. I can understand living there and always hearing the rhetoric coming from the North that they just must brush it off, but with lekate not use to that I hope it's something that isn't freaking her out. I certainly know it would be unnerving.
I hope like most that it's just the normal bs coming from the North but only time will tell. My understanding is that if missiles were launched it was going to be on the 14th or 15th (forget the date)
Good to know there is a last line of defense if needed. If North Korea nukes are fired, Alaska is last line of defense
New video shows North Korea setting it's aim to Colorado Springs CO. Doesn't know where it is on the map haha

Well it's being reported that 2 scuds have been deployed to North Korea's east coast. According to the article:
Now the US-backed South Korea awaits a possible launch of a DPRK missile on April 25. On that date, a military parade in Pyongyang called to demonstrate country’s military might and decisiveness might require a more substantial argument in a 60-year-old dispute.

hey all. Just came back and I was surprised as how normal things were in Seoul. No headlines, no one talking about NK and no one seemed worried. We even went to the DMZ area and saw NK villagers.
