The first responders certainly acted quickly to help. But it's not just them..plenty of Bostonians have opened their homes to runners and thier families. And the Red Cross is asking people to not donate blood at the moment.

Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

gryphon glad to her your friends are safe and your cousin too anisa. I can't imagine how terrified people would have been. Being that the marathon draws crowds from around the and the fact that not everyone on your facebook you really know or are your "friends", I circulated the following for people to view and use the numbers if needed. Every opportunist had to jump in with, "Geez why can't we just focus on the real tragedies in our own neighbourhoods like the charities that need money and the starving children, etc instead of some stupid bombing halfway across the country?!"
Really? That's where people go? Is society really that selfish and self centered that if it doesn't directly impact them that it doesn't need to be discussed? Mourned? Shocking to them? Ugh

I think someone mentioned here about Newtown? This is what I'm reading right now. So horrible

- According to a law enforcement official quoted by NBC News one of the two fatalities was an 8-year-old child.
- Family members of the victims killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting last year were seated near the site of the first of the two coordinated explosions at the Boston Marathon Monday, adding more heartbreak to the already tragic day.

Can't help but first think was someone trying to send a message? Guns don't just kill people? Can't protect everyone? Etc. You never know. It's a very sick we live in.

As disgusting and horrible as this is, I am not one bit surprised at it. In fact, I'm shocked something like this hasn't happened before. The US has a big target painted on it and I think this is going to become more common than not.
