O.k. Don't yell at me. This is good news.
You have 3 months to save for Christmas (if you celebrate this holiday).
And you don't have to go into debt too. If you start taking a tiny bit from each paycheck and put in the bank, by the beginning of December, you should have a nice amount for shopping.
So no need to use the credit card.
No need to have to pay credit card bills in January.

Will take your advice for planning for the few gifts I do give . Like you said, small and regular sums will add up (and hopefully for nicely timed retail sales!) in three months' time.

We budget for gifts in our overall family budget, so we set aside money each month all year for Christmas gifts, as well as birthday gifts and other gifts that come up through the year (weddings, baby showers, housewarmings, etc.). No debt for gifts.

my local Metro has a Christmas club. They allow you to save $x per weeek and if you save 50 times the weekly amount , they give you 2 weeks extra $$s free. Plus they allow you to save extra money when you have it. Last year I had saved my quota by mid-November, this year looks the same.
Sure, it links me into Metro for most of my Christmas grocery shopping but those dollars add to my Metro et moi points...
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
