with all the kids and grandchild home the house is just soo full, thinking of booking a weeklong getaway for this coming weekend hopefuly will be able to book a decent priced last minute deal on tuesday. really need to get away before the holidays start.

I feel bad for wanting this, but after being empty nesters for awhile its a lot to deal with on a daily bases.

I am still catching up, But think I have read all I can tonight. In our town things are gone haywire. Several people have been shot and killed this weekend and one was my 19 year old cousin's best friend. I went to school with both of the boys parents. The third guy took hostages and shot 3 police men and they say several other were injured.
Tomorrow is jakes bday. we had a party for him yesterday. Glad I didnt wait like I had planned.

That would be so much fun. I don't suppose you get to Toronto very often? I've never had occasion to visit London. Spent a weekend in Forest several years ago for a murder mystery weekend (lots of fun!).

I've never actually been to Toronto. I passed near it when I came up to live with DH, and we drove past it on our way to Great Wolf Lodge. I would love to go sometime, when the kids are a bit bigger I think.

Lady, you should totally not feel guilty for wanting time away. A change as drastic as what you went through is very hectic, and you totally need to find time for yourself. Go have fun!

Lady don't feel guilty I understand completely. Just that week with having DD here was enough for me much less a whole house full. Son used to come home on leave and stay for quite awhile and lol sorry to say it but was much more relaxing when he finally had to leave (broke my heart and hated to see him go but got to say he's so hyper he gets on my nerves especially after it just being DH and me for so long). Enjoy your time recharge, relax and you'll be in a much better place to get through the stressful holidays!

The tree is too small for regular ornaments and the small ones look too tiny so I got out some bows and things I bought last year to do some crafts with. There's sticks with presents on them pine cones painted with bells and things on them. I stuck these into the tree and it looks amazing. Will post another pic in a minute just as avatar not sure how to get them in a message. Ok put it in my signature hope this works. Can't really see some of it but the tree looks a whole lot better now and I had DH put the tree on a box so it looks bigger. lmao had a heck of a time figuring out how to turn the flash off so the lights showed up in the avatar one.

I probably will not be around a whole lot tomorrow...religious holiday for me and spending the day with my family. It is Eid al Adha for Muslims so this is a big holiday and well we will go to prayers in the morning and then all meet at my parents for food all day
Today we had dinner at my sister's place and exchanged gifts for the kids. They all loved it and best of all my nephew loved his new backpack, was so excited for a 16 yr old to get a backpack. I also bought him the Scene It Seinfeld edition which is an interactive board/dvd game since he loves Seinfeld sooo much (so do I).

All in all a great day and even better one tomorrow I hope when I see my friends and more family

I probably will not be around a whole lot tomorrow...religious holiday for me and spending the day with my family. It is Eid al Adha for Muslims so this is a big holiday and well we will go to prayers in the morning and then all meet at my parents for food all day

Oh Jo it is TERRIBLE here. The snow was so high, and DH had to go out and shovel... I always worry about him, he had a heart defect when he was born and had 2x open heart surgeries. But it isn't like my pregnant self could shovel it! LOL
The roads are incredibly clear though, so I dunno. I guess it will depend on what happens between now and then, cause we both know how bad London roads are! Where do you donate plasma at? I live right by London Health Sciences hospital

There is a permanent clinic at Commissioners & Wellington right on the hospital grounds. Now that I'm in St. Thomas I don't go as often but with plasma you can donate every 6 days unlike a regular blood donation where you have to wait 56 days. I've always been a 'save the world or whoever/whatever you can' person which pretty much explains my horrible taste in men. My mom says that when I was little I brought home every animal I could find whether it was a stray or not. She even bought me a bag that said (with a child's stick figure drawing) "It followed me home. Can I keep it?"

When I was 6 months pregnant it was also over the winter time. I was living up in Timmins so there was always a tonne of snow. I was late for work one morning and the city plows had been out but the company that plowed our parking lot hadn't. I was driving a crappy Chevy Cavalier and I didn't have time to shovel snow so I tried driving over the pile of snow that the city left at the end of the driveway. It figures that I got stuck so out I went and started shoveling snow from under the car. 10 minutes later the plow guys show up so I told them why I did what I did. They just laughed at me so I told them "I'm 6 months pregnant and I shouldn't even be out here doing this. Why hasn't this lot been plowed yet?" One of the guys just looked at me and said "oh, I just thought you were fat". I was floored but I had to laugh. From their perspective I'm sure I looked like a total idiot but I had to get to work and I needed their help so I just shut up.

As for the Christmas tree... last week the kids were bugging to get it up and I wanted nothing to do with it so I told them that they were on their own to do it. It's only a 6 foot tree but I kept thinking of that commercial where the bottom of the tree is decorated and the star gets thrown on the tree because they can't reach the top. They put on at least 6 strands of lights and tried to put on every ornament we own. they did a great job of it. We have to tie bells along the bottom of the tree because my cat (who is 8 years old, not a kitten) gets under there and plays with the ornaments. The ones on the bottom of the tree are from the dollar store so it's not a big deal but he also chews on the string that is holding the tree so he doesn't knock it down! he's worse than the toddlers I was babysitting!!

Off I go for the day. I've got a dr's appt in 45 minutes (I'm in my pj's still) then I have to go to work until 5:30. I hope they put me in the infant room. It's so fun in there!

Seek, that is terrible!! What is the world coming to! Not too long ago, there was something similar in my area. Stress of the holidays, I guess. That and recession likely.

Don't feel guilty. I want to do that and I haven't had the luxury of an empty nest yet. Mine is only 8 1/2 months old Nah, he's a good kid, but somedays I just want to .......... [teething right now].

Good morning everyone - hope everyone's day is going good so far. I woke up to just a couple inches of snow but heavy and very slippery out so decided the heck with it and phoned work and said I wouldn't be in that the roads were too slippery. Schools were closed so I closed the office for myself.

I AM going away for the weekend of Dec 27-29th and I'm leaving dick head here with 3 kids. He's going to be sooooo lost. Maybe then he'll appreciate all the things I do. lol
I've told everyone that I'm going to Toronto to see a friend that I haven't seen in 5 years but we're actually going to Niagara Falls. Yes he's a male friend but it's not that kind of relationship and I don't need the grief and insinuations that will come with telling the truth. So it's just a little white lie. Really!!
