What's blooming in your yard?

All of the seeds I bought brand new this year. I only started adding peat moss in the last few years. The squash patch is nice and fluffy from the 7yr old manure that we added when we first bought the house, dad brought it from our old acreage where I grew up. The other patches have dense sandy soil that is easily compacted, so it could use some help in that department. I'm wanting to go shopping and check out the clearance options for garden supplies. Hoping to do that late this afternoon or on Thursday.

I went to WM last night and they had clearance signs on some yard and garden supplies, but it was less than a dollar off the item. My location doesn't do much as far as clearance prices go. I was reading on our local Facebook garage sale pages and found someone giving away decent top soil. I could really use some for my vegetable garden plots and to fill in some low spots in the yard. Dh is taking my truck so that he can pick it up after he finishes work today. It is the best day that works for the person giving away the soil. Too bad that today is the hottest day of the week. It is supposed to get up to 32C today and we haven't been getting any rain at night.

Three eggplants (Vittoria hybrid). Growing eggplants in this region feels like a minor miracle to me.

I took a few pictures of my plants this morning.

This is one of the yellow pear tomato plants. The white building in the background is the side of my neighbour's garage. They have painted all the other sides of it, but not this one yet. This wall is actually on our property, but we are nice neighbours.


The next two pictures are of my large tomato plants. The lady at the farmer's market said that they are large yellow tomato plants, but I won't know for sure until they start to ripen. They look like beef steak tomatoes to me. They are already larger than a softball. One slice would cover an entire piece of bread.



This is the pumpkin plant that LO was given at the farmer's market. It looks like another baby pumpkin has decided to die on the plant. I tried polinating two other flowers on the plant. Hopefully they decide to grow. Our garden has a good amount of insects in it.



These squash plants were planted at the same time. The one inside the plastic ring was bought later at CT and added.

Oh that really sucks Patty. They are forecasting another thunderstorm for us in the next 24hrs. Supposed to get 10-20mm of rain, but never know how hard it might fall. I put more support steaks around my tomato plants today, but I'm hoping they help...not hinder the plants in the potential storm. We have been missing most of the forecast storms lately.

Everything is growing along quite nicely. This pic is from a couple of weks ago. My limelight hydrangea is blooming this year yay, its the 3rd summer and didnt bloom last year. Also my white lillies are blooming now. All the other lillies are done. I'll try to post more pics again soon.

Purple coneflowers seem clownish in the front flowerbed but Mom said it was a medicinal plant (did not realize the Latin name begins with Echinacea) someone recommended to her.

Snow alyssum is going wild in a pot and in the ground. Rose canes have been really a joke except for the tiny one that thrived when tree cover was reduced in spring. So only the little one has grown about 7 roses this summer. The more established canes are doing nothing but growing branches (I cut some down to see if the plant realizes it's time to have some flowers) and getting leaves eaten by the beetles. Chrysanthemum stems are reaching far up and soon with smother any lower flowering plants by its leaf foliage.

Little pears are on two trees. The trunks are in poor shape but trees try to grow some fruit (rather hard pears but they cook up in a sauce okay if I want to spend time peeling them or go into a fruit crumble).

These are a few pictures of the lilac bushes that are by my front step, between our house and the neighbours. They were there when we bought the house 9yrs ago. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the leaves?
From the looks of the plants I would not be surprised if we had to remove them next year.

The first 2 pics look like powdery mildew... but I have no experience with lilacs

It's possibly blight. Google lilac bacterial blight and go into images to see if yours look anything like the ones there.
