holly?? Is THAT the usual price for potatoes out your way? I near fell off my seat, as I dislike paying anything over $3.00 for our 10 lb. bags. There is usually one of the stores that has an awesome sale ( $1.99 ) for new, russets, redskins, or just plain P.E.I. white ones that I PM for at WM. but if I HAVE to I will go up to their demanding $3.00 range...lol.
That being said we ( DH and I ) are kinda cutting back on the white potatoes, so now a 10 lb bag can last too long here.
Can you not PM Canada wide now?

WOB, that's the price situation with potatoes here, too. It stinks - we go through a lot of potatoes.
Just a year ago, used to be able to get 20lbs red or russets for $6!
Holly, I'm like you, I'm a potato sniffer! I can smell one going bad long before anyone else can. Same with oranges....
So our son is obviously (?) obsessed with cars - he has an old Mustang and has been working on it. Most of the mechanical work is done, and he's now working on the body.
But he's got a love for old boat-cars - and has been looking for one. Well, he bought a 1976 Cadillac yesterday - drove all the way down to Swift Current to buy it. It's not running, so he'll go next week to pick it up with a trailer. Oh, boys and their toys!
Mind you, he's really excited - the car was sold by the son of a man who had died, it was a one-owner car and has been garaged for the past decade.
I bug him about doing this - but you know, he doesn't go out to bars or fool around, or waste his money on crap... so this is a decent hobby to have!
Anyway, he's coming over tonight for supper, yay!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Good golly, Miss Holly! That's a whack of money for spuds! I'm with Walks...surely you can price-match with Ontario flyers at a WM near you? I'm just learning about this price-matching thing with out of town flyers, and I gather some people either put them on their phones somehow or print them out and take them to WM stores? SO naive when it comes to things like that, but heavens, I hope you can do something like that!
Nat...you're so right about having a hobby that doesn't involve beer and bars! I bet he's over the moon with his new wheels!
Off to physio this morning, but sheesh, my friend and I visited the Fabricland here that's consolidating with another one because of their sales, then the other one, and omg, I pushed my rollator walker all over those two stores! Nothing I really needed, but picked up 18 patterns for $6 total when their regular prices range between $15 - $18 each...well...hog heaven!!
Jenny will be looking pretty swell in all the new jackets I'll be sewing for her when I can sew again!
But that walking sure took a toll, and the only shoes I could fit this morning were sandals (because of th swelling of my yucky foot)...gah! Not as stable as sneakers, but they'll have to do for now. I tried to put more weight on that leg, but it just gave out. I guess I'm really not ready for a cane, yet...
Have a happy, sunny day, everyone!!! Stay safe!!Last edited by Lynn49; Mon, Aug 18th, 2014 at 09:57 AM.

good late afternoon all. I am in a movie binge mode these days, just have the itch to see so many. I love the Red Box deals where I pay $1.50 for a flick ( Blue Ray $2.00 ), beats Bell offers where one movie on Pay Per View is nearly $8.00
( I have done that but only if there are going to be multiple viewers here enjoying it)
Even my local theatre admission prices are cheaper that that, lol.
Lynn!! I am thrilled about all the walking and rolling you did around fabricland, great efforts!
Natalka and holly, wow! I really had no idea the cost of taters out West. As Lynn says, try to figure out how to PM those suckers Canada wide and save!!

So how's everyone now that the working day is over? Survived it all?
Now you can relax!
Good day at physio, esp the heat wrap....She still doesn't know what's causing the pain behind my knee...It straightens out just fine when I'm sitting on the table there, at home....but when my leg is dangling off their table, I just can't straighten it out by myself. It feels like something is grabbing me really hard behind my knee; thank goodness I have no problem walking with that problem! I'm walking nicely with crutches now, which gives me a more natural, upright gait instead of walking into my walker...lol.....I can see a light at the end of the tunnel now, which I couldn't do even two weeks ago! Yay!
Hubby flies to Toronto tomorrow for a check-up, just for the day, so a g/f is coming over with her 3 little dogs and I'll be helping her with two fleece throws she's making for her hubby who's working out if town, and the old fellow he's renting a bsmt apt from. You gals would know the kind of blanket I mean...two layers of fleece knotted together, only we're using a neater method.
Anyhoodles! Hope you all stayed well today...geez, things can happen so quickly, I'm beginning to think that each healthy day is a miracle!
Actually.....I guess it IS!

Yeah, unfortunately it is I hate paying over $3.99 for 10 pounds, but that rarely happens. They are cheaper towards the fall, for a month or so, but on average, without any type of sale, the lowly spud runs around $6 for a 10 pound bag.....and like Nat, I use tons of potatoes..in fact that could be my middle name.........mashed, smashed, baked, boiled, fried, shredded, scalloped, I could keep going forever, Yep, the secrets out, I'm a potato gal AND a potato sniffer
I wonder what else I'm a sniffer of,
We all need a little sunshine every now and then

Oh that brings back memories...I saw a picture a few months back taken of me when I was 21, sitting behind the wheel of a 77 Caddy Eldorado, a BIG black boat. I looked like a 10 year old behind the wheel it was so bigWe all need a little sunshine every now and then

Great old car memories! Milan has to find a trailer with a winch so he can go pick up the car next weekend. Now what's funny, is that he figured it would be big, but didn't know it would be THAT big as when he saw it!
Speaking of boats, I learned to drive in a old boat of a Chrysler in the mid-70s.

Soooo...I'm the first one on here this morning? THAT never happens! Woohoo!
Where is everyone?
Hubby's flown the coop, off to TO for a check-up at Women's College Hospital...my g/f will be coming over at around 10:30 to spend some time here with her 3 doggies...two tiny yorkies and one smallish border collie looking little guy who I just love...Jenny will observe from a perch somewhere until she deems them worthy of her attention, then she will join them in rounds of roughhousing and growling. It's bound to be an adventure! She and I will attempt, in the midst of doggie-madness to put together the two fleece blankets for her hubby who's working out of town and they old man he's renting a small basement apt from....the tying fleece blanket, but without the tying...more like a pull-through fringed version.
Other than that...I'm walking with crutches all the time, now, but my foot is still very sore to walk on, but I persevere and suffer beautifully, if I do say so myself.
Have a happy day, everyone...I hope you have more sunshine than it's looking like we'll be having today..there's got to be some semblance of summer somewhere in this country!!!
Hugs and toodles!
