I think only opened stuff such as coffee, syrupt, cream, milk ect. That would be a mess to transport to another location. They are not throwing away unopened stuff or their equipment bc I would be the first to dumpster dive for their blender or expresso maker. I always wanted one but it cost hundreds.

I just don't get this, advertising with food bank? If Target promised to give food bank left over clearance unsold merchandise and unable to meet quota that does not give Foodbank a right to claim the outrageous amount they are claiming. It's donation...it's free to the foodbank.
On the otherhand, feel so bad for other creditors on the list especially smaller companies...

Went to Target this morning and they had gotten rid of all of the frozen and cold grocery items

It is not always just leftovers though, say they agreed to give XYZ foodbank $25,000 in money/food in 2014-15 and they have only given them $5,000. On their balance sheet, it will show they have an outstanding bill but it relies on the foodbank actually claiming it through the creditor process.
I work for a non profit and we have shown up on a number of statements for companies that agreed to multi-year deals but went out of business. We never follow through, we just remove their advertising from anything going forward

I will admit I never really got into shopping at Target, went in a few times here and there but like most have said Stock Issues and Incorrect Pricing were always issues I seem to have.
If you are selling products to the public it is simple as customer recently told our Sales Manager:
"You can have the best Customer Service, the best Quality and even the best Price but if you do not have stock I start looking else where for a new supplier".
Almost every time I went to Target I would go to grab something we just needed, was not on sale anywhere but we needed and they did not have stock so for me this meant a second stop a Wal-Mart for what I needed.
I am shocked they are pulling out of Canada I expected that would close stores but stay but well that is there choice. Locally not sure what is in store for the spaces they are occupying. We do not need anymore Wal-Marts we already have 4 within about 15 minutes, our mall is already having issues keeping stores. The one outside of the mall is one massive location I cannot see any other retailer taking on. I believe unless a Grocery store would like to open within the mall which I highly doubt will happen we are going to sit on huge empty spaces for quite some time.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

That would be a common sense move if it could have happened. But the freestanding store would have been a corporate one while the Target Starbucks was a franchise store. So likely Starbucks Canada wants to tally what's left of its assets/liabilities from all Target shops. It's an accounting thing.

i was at my local target today.. they had moved all the left over retail product on the shelf at target right near the starbucks...(by the 1 spot stuff) they had a bunch of bags of christmas flavors and mugs and such, they had also taken the machines apart and were packing them up (not tossing them) and were cleaning up the store spaceWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Suddenly there are tons of Starbucks mugs and drinkware and coffee appear in the kitchen area. I guess they didn't really throw that stuff away.
I went to another Target today but got so distracted bc I thought I lost my phone. I just walk around but couldn't concentrate so I left the store, thinking I would try calling all the stores I have visited earlier. Got back to the car and my phone is on the seat...duh...it fell out of my coat pocket.

My local Target isn't price matching any more either. Why would they disallow that?
