I'm at a loss for words regarding this horrific crime...my prayers are with the pastor, Senator Clementa Pinckney and eight others who were shot while attending a prayer meeting at Emanual Methodist African Church in Charleston, S Carolina.
The gunman is still at large, but was caught on camera, so police feel he will be found in short order....I won't feel too bad if he doesn't make it to jail, saving the state the cost of his care and feeding for the rest of his life and him knowing he's getting his 15 minutes of fame. He should simply disappear. jmho.
My heart just breaks for the family and friends of those killed....

Thanks Lynn, I was certain someone would post this thread, I first saw the story as a news crawl, and then the law enforcement officers were speaking, just no words left, there is no understanding these types of acts anymore for me. All that's left is hoping they arrest the person and he gets his punishment in court.
( or as you mentioned, maybe taken out before the trial begins )

I just shake my head when I hear of things like this. The world is getting to be a messed up place. Schools, summer camps and now churches being shot up. Just WOW!

It's so chilling that he sat in the prayer meeting for 1 hour.
I wonder is there is a mental illnes diagnosis as well.
One if the women is also a pastor.

is so terrible, obviously, how anyone could do such a thing, is so beyond anyone's logic
except to say he is brain sick, but then look at the post article, so,,,sighing
going to miss jon stewart and his (mostly) daily opinions,
and i cried once again watching it,,
the washington post had this,
http://www.washingtonpost.com/postev...opinions_pop_b
words have left me on how a person a few years younger than my nephew,
could do such an awful thing to so many people, their families, friends,, community etc.
unbelievable, but we see so is terrorism, hate crimes - hell any killing.
after sitting for an hour at a prayer study meeting,,, shutting up, too much

Apparently he did it because he said " blacks are taking over the world and someone needs to stand up for the white race"
First of all
and second, he is going to get a shock when he finds out genetics have shown that the WHOLE HUMAN RACE CAME OUT OF AFRICA!Just call me Wolfie

His hearing - there's a short video clip of it - and of family of the victims.
News story also includes comments from other family members - some giving forgiveness.

I think there is a lot going on with this guy.
Seems he was couch surfing and did not have a permanent home.
His mother was interviewed and and grieves for the families
His uncle was interviewed and said if there was a death penalty ruling, he would volunteer to push the button
The church is having Sunday services tomorrow and funeral for the pastor next Friday

i find it so heartwarming that people who have had such a loss are that forgiving,
sorry but i am still on that darn flag, can you imagine living in a province
that had a flag up which represented you or your
neighbour being owned? 3/5's a human - hence couldn't vote and could be property?
and is a part of the state's constitution!!!! and still is.
the people in power think it is not important to remove the darn thing - they have pride in it flying?
and like a few other states, can't be bothered to remove the flag and what is in
their constitution.
