On CBC radio they said someone from Elections Canada said that there are errors on about 1% of voter information cards in every election. I'm not sure if that's an acceptable number or not. I guess we can't expect perfection from Elections Canada but over a hundred thousand mistakes seems like a lot.

^^That's one constituency the Conservatives should not have taken for granted. I disagreed strongly with the closing of the local veteran's office here in Sydney. If there's one group that deserves our support, it's our veterans. They put their lives on the line to do what our country asked of them and deserve our support when they come home, and especially when they come home broken.

I'm a strong Conservative supporter as some of you may have guessed, but I don't know what they were thinking on this one.

To be fair a majority of the people backing that are not veterans but unions with some veterans for a public face.

There's some pretty angry veterans right here where I live, believe me. Having to go all the way to Halifax to see their case worker? That's a ten hour round trip just counting driving time. And vets are often Conservative supporters so they feel betrayed.

There are angry veterans but the majority of the movement is not veterans.

I don't agree with the party I support on everything. I support them because I agree with them more often than I disagree with them and more often than I agree with the other parties. I think anyone who agrees with every policy their party espouses has surrendered their individual thinking.

No doubt there are people using this issue for political gain, but it doesn't make the veteran's concerns any less real.

Niqab debate pushes Conservatives to first place in Quebec
The thing about this is that this became a campaign issue because the liberals and ndp and the media wanted to use it against Harper

Where is Mom, and how did it come to that? I guess the grass wasn't greener on the other side, and she came to her senses. Yes Children's Aid Services have no authority over kids 16yrs of age. Most of their not so stellar work is with kids under 15, where they most of the time hook line and sinker go with false accusations from one party (without investigating) and split families up

I contacted child protective services, or whatever they're called, and the very sympathetic lady (she really was, that's not sarcasm) told me they have no mandate for children 16 and older. Nothing I could do.

Long story short, she's home now and in grade 12, doing well.

I still have to convince her to vote though, even if it's for Elizabeth May.

See...you do learn stuff in school after all. Next time people want to have a go at teachers, think twice because if it was easy, everybody will be doing it

Yes, and that backfired pretty badly on them. It cost the NDP this election which they had a fair chance of winning as of a couple of weeks ago.
