Had a little shopping spree at Costco on Saturday (free gift cards from my phone upgrade which is saving me money!)
Spent under $60 and got
Frozen organic strawberries (for smoothies)
4 pk English muffins
5 x toothpaste
New Hard cover Diary of a Wimpy kid for DS
Minced garlic (huge jar- we use it for everything)
6 pk romaine hearts (desperate for salad!)
30 pk eggs
Something else- Can't remember.
Was fun not to worry about the final cost since I knew the gift cards would cover it! Now we are stocked for smoothies and egg mcmuffins the next few weeks!

It's the yellow one in the redemption flyer, I believe it's a Fuji reg price $279 on sale for $219. The 1 store I go to only has 1 in stock, going to check the other location that is a few minutes further to see how many they have.
Well dh has a friend who started a go fundme page for her husband to adopt her other 2 kids with 2 different men. He is an engineer, she also has a good paying job. She is always posting their romantic dinners out, gifts etc....
Today she posted an update whinning that they need more $ for lawyer fees etc.
So I decided to post something on my facebook page saying something along the lines that we all have hiccups in life, expense unforeseen etc, things we want vs. things we need. Obviously if it were a life or death situation that's different.
Anyways like everyone else in life save up & pay your way....geez It just peeves me that they don't do without anything and are a flashy couple but good lord her husband has been in their lives for 7 years you can't tell me they couldn't up saved up some $ along the way. Instead of begging people to pay for your lawyer fees, key word being your lawyer fees. And it's not like the kids could not have been adopted later in life. The 2 girls are 15 and 13, couldn't they be adopted at 16 without involving their biological fathers (maybe I'm wrong)
Anyone else have a beef with all these gofundme pages that are bogus or selfish???2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

J and C-I agree with you that some of these requests are over the top. I can perhaps see that in some exceptional circumstances involving an unforseen tragedy or medical crisis a person might try to request help. Before the advent of the internet I think family, churches, community etc used to step in and offer help to families in times of severe crisis. But this case sounds like more of a want than a need-as well my understanding is that Go fund me gets a certain percentage of all donations on all their pages which I don't like. I think if it is important enough to the family, with the incomes you describe, they could perhaps save up for these expenses. My guess is that if it is not completed by the time the girls are 18 it will be a moot point anyway.

J I have been quiet about it as I was pretty sure we would wind up staying home. We booked it 2 years ago when DH first got sick with the goal that everything would be fine by now.
At 6:30 tomorrow morning we will fly out to Puerto Rico and stay there til Saturday when we take a cruise around to 5 islands and then home.
I am SO looking forward to it!
DH is still not in top shape but since his specialist said it was okay, he's determined to go.
Got to head off to bed soon as the wake up call will come at 3:00 and the airport shuttle at 3:45!
Since there is such high security right now, we can't risk missing the flight by being late.

Nancy people like that drive me insane, feeling they should get everything for nothing and that their lifestyle comes first. On a much smaller scale this is why I have stopped looking at the wanted items & discussions on the buy/sell group, I really do not mean to sound rude but so sick of seeing posts on how kids are going without please help need free or super cheap as in free only to see them post the next week they are off to some Island for vacation and won't be responding for however many days. I think some people really need to get their priorities in line as to what is really important and what is a want vs a need.

It is Wednesday, we are half way there Yippee.
Think we are going to go shopping on Saturday as Mom is off and I want to get stocked up on a few things for when I travel, I would prefer to get everything now and then when I am off for shut down I just have to organize and get everything sorted. I would like to do some batch cooking to keep in the freezers (fully cooked just need to be reheated meals) that Mom can eat well I am away and also I have stuff to grab and take with me well I am away or if I am commuting have something quick to grab for dinner. I have started to look up recipes that I can cook and freeze on top of a few old favourites but I have found to in our house to keep away the temptation of eating out we need variety because we get sick of the same meals day after day.
Since we do not know exactly how my new job is going to work but there is potential for being away who knows how often I want to get everything super organized so if I run into weeks where I am gone back to back and only home on weekends it is easy to get what I will need for the following week without having to run all over the place. I know me and know if I am gone all week come the weekend I won't want to be running all over, I will want to be at home.
Other then that not much on the go, I am training someone tomorrow morning and then attending 2 meetings so I have to try to get everything ready today, if I cannot get it done during the day I will have to do after work. I am really hoping I can get it done today as I am having major crochet issues, I am making slippers for someone and the pattern does not work when I first read it I said this won't work but said no you are over thinking it, just work it up and all will be fine, well it is not. Sadly when I purchased the pattern it was off a site I just started using and did not see you can just check reviews on that item (some how I ended up looking at all her reviews for everything she sells which were good) well now that I have learned how to just read it for this pattern there are a TON of complaints and I as well will be leaving one. Needless to say I followed the pattern for a 8 to 9 size slipper and when said and ton it might fit a size 6 as you work the pattern the slippers get smaller and smaller (if that makes sense, when I made the sole it was the right size to fit my size 9 foot but you keep removing stitches so after 4 rows it will fit I am guessing a size 6). So now I need to figure something else out as Mom told this person I could do it. So hopefully I can work on this tonight.
Have a great day everyone, hopefully I can accomplish a lot today to free up tonight.

First day today!
Bf and i had a talk last night re bills etc because hes off work for 4 months ...and the gnwt has no short term disability for its employees...it's use all your sick leave/wait 13 weeks for long term disability whichever is longest. So for 3 weeks he has a full pay cheque then he gets to the 2 week waiting period and has to get EI until the 13 weeks r up.
Its going to make things very tight as he feels ei will only end up covering MAYBE the truck payment the mtg(also a 13 week wait for disability ) and the insurance on our vehicles and house...possibly child support. Which leaves everything else he pays (heat, phone, his cell ) either unpaid or on me ontop of the stuff i pay for. Hed not happpy about having to as he feels "go back on our agreement " and having to quit smoking.
My feelings are...we have some in savings snd in dec im being paid vacation time for half the month from my old job plus full time wages at the new...the extra xan go into savings to help when hes short.
Someday i might be the one hurt and needing that same help.
Oh and to top it off his incometax got reassessed and even though its joibt shared custody we have the boys 50% of the time...he agreed to pay child support because he's got more income. .. (no court order) and they agreeed he claims one boy she claims the other...the CRA has deemed that he cant claim either as a dependent because he pays vhild support.....sooooo he has to pay them backnow.
